Not sure if this was addressed.

In the bigger ships like the YT where you can decorate you could also place crafting stations.

How would crafting work in space?

Could you reverse engineer hutt loot in space and rebuild it / equip while in space?

... thoughts

"This Emulator stuff is nothing more then a hobby for some really smart people. If someone can write an SWG emulatorthats any good, please apply for a job here. You also better know SQL pretty well and have an oracle database and a ton of other important stuff. SWGEmu is nothing more then a UI mod. Now if some genius ever pulled it off... well that would be another matter entirely. You seariously don't think we're worried about this do you?"

I suspect cdsixer is right.

If we can have crafting stations on multiplayer ships, then it would be really odd if we couldn't craft things (which probably includes reverse-engineering looted ship parts) in space. But if we can also repair/replace parts while in space, then why would we ever need to land if we pick up Shipwright skills in addition to piloting skills?

Here are some related questions:

Will there be a ship crafting tool? Or tools?

Will ship deeds look like blank datapads? Or like ships?

When we add a part (engine, weapon, etc.) to a ship, will we see the change reflected visually somehow(while the ship is on the ground)? Or will it only show up as text on a deed?

The changes one makes totheir ship will be visible, unless it's a change to computer systems and the like, which, naturally, wouldn't change any physical features. Well, some may.

And I hope that you can customize your ship in space. It would make things so much easier.

Ah, and shipwrights don't have to customize someone's ship for them. You can customize on your own.

I'm back.

I think a good way to maybe get more people interested in space would be to change the properties of items you craft in space. I am not saying to make items crafted in space to be superior to items crafted planet-side. But give a few items crafted in space a desirable trait or two that you cannot accomplish planetside. Its not like this is farfetched, I mean NASA does experiments on the Space Station because they will yield different results than if they were done on earth. Just an idea I thought I would throw out there, you guys can refine it or shoot it down.
