Thread: Reactor Overload ?

I am attempting to use this feature however there is no indicator that it is working or how much extra energy i get when i use it. I just get a system message that says my flight computer is ready for another command.
1. Does the overload only last until i get the next system message from my flight computer or does it remain overcharged until i set it to stabilize ?
Really would like some clarification on this.

overload lasts til
- you get destroyed
- you turn it off
- you land

I don't notice reactor overload doing anything, does this pump more energy from the reactor to make some systems work that didn't for going into the over limit/red?

I notice you can go over max reactor energy when building/managing yourship but i did not notice how it effects my ship if I do.

And if anyone finds a use for it let me know (maybe i dont nderstand it but i think the Privateer commands are useless)

Supposedly, it creates a bigger reactor output than the reactor normally does. This would mean that you could overload the energy levels of your reactor some.

Not sure exactly how it works, never did explore the freelancer pilot tree much during beta.

I actually found a use for it once in beta. Once.

I was in a big fight and was losing. I got nailed and took damage that lowered my reactor output, taking myblasters and shields offline. I overloaded the reactor, and the extra power it gave me allowed meto get my blasters online again.

I still died though, but it was kinda cool. If your reactor is damaged but not destroyed, you can use reactor overload to possibly get enough power back to bring some systems back online.

It's not nearly as useful as the commands the other pilot trees get though.

That sounds more useful than the rebel ones, actually.

Aren't the droid commands still tradable though? If so, get the imperial engine overload commands. Those are the absolutely best ones in the entire expansion.

Don't know if they removed this option, but I kinda like it. I wish they would require a smuggler to slice them before a player of the "wrong" profession can use them though...

Ok that seems like it would be ok. Maybe i have to wait till my reactor is damaged.

Privateers already have a special for going really really fast. I wonder if they'd stack....

Too bad it seems to fail at least 50% of the time and make you sit there for a minute. =)The Reactor Overload skills is pretty much worthless. The imperial and rebel astromech abilities are real nice..I don't see why neutrals get the shaft again. The imperial ability is really powerful and the rebel move shields forward is really nice vs all the jousting npcs. =)

Has anyone tried placing components in their ship that exceeds the reactor limit (ie so it turns red) then tried the reactor overload command? Typically your chaff and missle launchers are the low priority and are shut off first. Perhaps trying to fire a previously disabled launcer while reactor overloads might gain a benefit?

They do. Or at least Weapon Overload 3 and /eweapons stack.

And astromech programs are still tradeable.

To the parent poster, if you think engine overload is the best program, you haven't played much with weapon overload.

I'm baaaaaack
And it looks like I'll be going again.
