Had this problem all day today... Very frustrating.. Well here is how I fixed it.
While in your ship press the map key on and off very quickly.. ( N key )
This fixes the problem for me.
Hope this works for everyone else!

happened to me a lot on beta, but havent been able to test out in game yet, as i live in the uk !!!!!!!!!

I see like 1 in 10 shots, tried moving sliders and switching graphics drivers even.
This hasnt helped either.

I had that problem some during the first day, upgraded to DirectX 9.0c, and haven't seen the problem again. (crossing fingers)

the only way i found to cure it in beta was to log out then back in again, which was a royal pain if your in the middle of a fight.
ill try the map thing once i get flying if it happens again
btw, if the devs are watching, my set up is
amd3000+ 1024meg DDR ram, gf4ti 4600 ultra(latest drivers - nvidia)
