If I trick out a light fighter, can I survive and master pilot with it? Or do I need to keep buying new ships? Did anyone stick with a light fighter all the way through beta?

All depends on ur flying style. If u like close in dogfighing u can make it to master pilot in a z95 if u wanted to. I like variety so I will switch on a daily or mission basis. I just wanna get my xwing and be happy. SIgh one tier above.

hmm in beta I was about to put master level stuff on a z95
In beta before the mass changes you mean. Now, z95 and scyk and the trainer TIE are roughly 12K mass max... so, no good on higher levels. There are other light fighters though, which SOE has not decided to cripple yet.

Thanks guys. I question the decision to limit the mass on light fighters. We've been down that road, and it led to everyone wearing composite armor. The last thing we need is an entire galaxy full of millenium falcons.

im expecting to see the better pilots and the pilots with a flying style like mine (loving fast things that cant take much abuse but will fly circles around anythign strong enough to deal it) which is why im getting an a-wing and keeping it even at master,in beta i was literally flying in circles around TIE interceptors, which is wierd because the int is supposed to counter the thing

A-Wings are pretty amazing, never flown one though because I'm not a dirty rebel. Most of the TIE line are fairly nimble in general though, until you get to tier 4.

I think the mass of a ship affects the speed. I have a level 2 engine at 61.2 top speed. In the Z-95 my max speed is around 630. The sameengine in my Y-Wing was around 580, if I remember correctly. I could be wrong.
If this is correct, then the mass limit is a good thing otherwise we'd haveeveryone in the fastest ship with the heaviest armor and strongest weapons. Whereas a limit would give you advantages such as speed but also disadvantages as less armor.

The A is a Tier 4 ship, the Int is a Tier 3 ship. Try flying against the TIE Advanced instead

what do you do about fitting higher level parts on your z95? According to someone you cant put anything higher than lvl5 on a z95.
