I think it would be really cool if the devs added Starship terminals to faction HQs, only usable by people of that faction, sorry neutrals. To me it makes sense that you could land and launch at a Faction HQ of your faction.
This would add a reason for faction bases on the ground again, and stoke the fires of the GCW, and tie the space game into the ground game some.
However, it would be difficult to code the landing part into the game I suppose, but possible.

I completely agree. Definitely space should be linked to ground more.
Another thing I thought is to have faction HQs in space, with a prerequisite of having 3 faction HQs on ground on the same planet (or something like that). When one launches from one of the faction HQs on ground, they load next to the space HQ that is linked to the 3 faction HQs on ground.
Working more on this idea, these space HQs can be destroyable when, say,a certain amount ofplayers from the opposing faction dock it at the same time (players are vulnerable to attacks when docking you know)

Too much potential for some major issues.
First off, you allow one faction to travel to a location faster than another faction - that can lead to griefing issues, but even worse.
What happens when you land at a faction HQ (say near a player city) take care of some business in the player city, maybe log... then come back to find the HQ destroyed? Where is your ship now since you can only launch from where you landed?

This is one of the best ideas I have heard in a while. To solve your problem with the HQ being destroyed, you can default the ship location to the nearest starport.
I HOPE THIS GETS IMPLEMENTED!

Devs already said they can't get starship terminals anywhere but starports because of coding problems (was a while back now can't find the post) they might find a way around but it probably has to many ways to be griefed to be used.
