sorry buddy, I think the jousting is complete bull.
It was mouch more fun to try and pull in behind the enemies and get a "lock" then to now wait for 10 minutes with my sheilds set to maximum front and wait for them to make each pass

Why not do both? Instead of "jousting" 100% of the time or "circling" 100% of the time why not do either at random or both at random. Would be a big change and make the AI "feel" a little more realistic.

Joust Wars no thank you!
What is interesting is that this UI change is seen very differently depending on what level you are at. For people that can use level 6+ equipment the change was not as bad, but for those pilots that are working their way up the ladder it is a nightmare. Try taking out a Y wing with level 4 - 5 equipment and you will have a completely diffrent experiance then if you where in a deak out X-Wing

While it's nice that they try to get away so they can turn and fire on you, i don't particularly like being outrunned by standard Tie Fighters when i'm in my A-Wing with a 92.2 engine...
It's being worked on though, so i'm happy.

Tier 4's are unable to joust my X wing most of the time and i end up in a fun dogfight (not circleing or jousting). Tier 5 ties joust the hell outta me in my X and i find they rarely drop loot, at least in kessel and deepspace, so i dont play with em much. Anything lower then tier 4 doesnt stand a chance and even if they did manage to joust would be dead before they crossed me the 1st time. Development shouldnt be stoped where its at, but get a decent peice of metal flying up there and youll all have less to complain about.

You might be right, dunno havent walked in those shoes. As a master in a decent X wing the change is a welcome one, it wasboring to just turn in a circle "turreting" for hours n hours grinding to master pilot.

The "joust" is easy to beat if you manage your throttle and give up trying to latch by circling. You have to cut to the side, throttle down to your max turning speed and then turn early, youll cut right behind it if you do it right. Yeah you might take a hit or two getting into position, but once you get behind, you have to be a crappy pilot to lose the latch. and even if you do, rinse and repeat.
I love the new AI. makes me a better pilot.

After a couple of days of playing with the new AI, I just wanted to say thank you Devs. Its a drastic improvement from the circling. Now of course I dont want you to stop tweaking AI as I feel its one of the most important aspects of JTL, but after a few days im having fun again, thanks.

If you say so, but jousting to me is much *less* fun than circling.
Part of the "fun" in starwars is the dogfight. With the new "AI" change (really all the did was give the AI super agility and super speed) the dogfight is gone.
I'd rather circle with 10 fighters against me any day then joust with 1. It's just more fun that way (for me).
