Engines are generally better looted, as are Capacitators and Boosters, everything else is just as good or better player-made.

Just wondering ...

Some are, some arent. There seems to be some rare loot drops that are as good if not better than crafted.

In Beta, I was never able to make a engine even close as good as my loot drop engines though.

Everything else turned out better so long as i used the optional equipment to increase speed, recahrge rate, etc...with the special resources needed.

Well, now im a Fighter...i gave up crafting due to the sillyness.

Something that always seemed to be better as loot on beta was capacitors. It was impossible to even get near the value of looted caps with the crafted ones...

But yeah, I would say that there is loot out there that is better than all crafted components. I wouldn't worry too much about it though, people will still need shipwrights. It can be a pain to be able to fit looted components within your energy and mass restrictions.

With the exception of weapons and maybe shields, I have yet to see a SW beat loot. In fact, the loot one level lower is often better than a SW (i.e. a Lv2 loot beats an SW's lv3)
