And I hope they intend to keep it that way.

Overall, only looted Capacitors, Engines, and Boosters are better than crafted ones, SWs make better Weapons, armor, shields, reactors, droid interfaces...

Actually i have looted all components better than SW's can make so far... i must agree the weapons loot seem very low.. and u also gotta understand that energy use is very much a problem with looted weapons.. which gives the SW the advantage of makeing more "customized" parts..

However, looted parts are ALOT better BUT look at it this way... take a weaponsmith in example.. if u want an uber weapon.. u have to get it krayt or acklay which means the ws has to fork over 100k-5mil to get the good LOOT to make uber weapons..

so if a shipwright wants to make UBER parts hes gunna have to pay some pilot 1 mil to buy 5 nice looted parts to RE and then resale to make his own profit.

and of course 1 last note... all newbies wont have all the good parts to begin with and will need a sw for beginer parts... which makes them just like a WEAPONSMITH.

If it wern't for loot drops we'd all be sitting on the ground waiting for you "insta-SW Masters" to get your S**T together and make decent components and sell them for a reasonable price. I'm seeing Proton Missle packs being offered on Bazaar for 5000 credits each! Talk about rip off. I was a MSW in Beta and I know what it takes in both time and resources to make a missle pack too. I'm just waiting for some genius to put two and two together and realize that selling chaff and missle launchers without a means to supply Ord packs pretty much defines stupidity. On the up side .. I'm learning to fight better without them and have got to T3 just fine as well.

My vote .. increase the uber loot drops!

You make a good point. Unfortunately I forsee the job of shipwrights as mainly just suppliers of the blueprints people need, not the parts, which as you say, can be looted of superior quality that crafted parts.

Don't give up just quite yet. With the mass and energy limits, people will need shipwrights to pretty much tailor make components for them. Sure, some loot components might be much better than crafted ones (and they need to be, or we'd have useless loot like in the ground game), but they will still need shipwrights.

Since my copy of JTL hasn't arrived yet, I have no real idea how the loot rates are in space now. During the last stage of beta it was very rare to find good high end loot. Don't thinkI really found anything higher than level 6 after I mastered the profession. I ended up using mainly shipwright crafted components, since I could pretty much get the exact components I wanted. Especially for weapons. (The speed limiter rocks!)

When I first heard that SWs were supposed to be able to Reverse Engineer items, I thought that they would get a (limited use) schematic for the item they reverse engineered. That way the shipwrights wouldn't feel quite as overwhelmed by the fact that loot can be better...

But yeah, people will need SWs to RE items. Even though you will mainly only get to RE low end stuff. It's too much of a pain to find enough high end items to RE.

Vicotnik:

No, so far loot is crushing shipwrights. Mass on loot is WAY down while other stats are quite high. I've bought a few things from SW's (weapons, a better reactor, etc), but 95% of my stuff is better than SW. If I sold it on a vendor and advertised, I could put the closest 4 SW's out of business in a day. It's like the ground game, only reversed. The SW's are "green mob drops" rigt now, while the loot in space is the "Master smith w/ 200 experimentation points". I think this is because it's on the front end and we need some good stuff while the SWs level up.I expect the devs to fix this soon. If not, SW's will pretty much disappear. The stuff I'm getting in space is unreal. Level 2 loot beating a SW's level 4 craft. Since we can only have 3 ship slots, blueprints will flood the market at some point. So far, the future for SW looks grim indeed...

Maybe RE IS the key...

Yeah, I'm mainly talking about high end stuff though. I haven't experienced much with the low end stuff and the current mass system yet. This mass system wasn't added until after I had already mastered my piloting profession during beta. I'malmost sure there will be a market for Mark III-V stuff for Shipwrights.
