Considering there is no gravity in space

Weight or Mass. There is a difference. Mass is a serious problem in space. It takes bigger engines to move mass and change direction.

considering there are no

- combat starships
- twilek females
- air in space, but we still have sound in game
- bounty huntears wearing mandalorian armor
- bantha
- dantooine
- holocrons
- wookiee life day orb
etc... get over it, it's not meant to reflect reality

Well there is wieght in some components that you can alter

And I'm pretty certain mass has no effect in space. Considering that everything moves at one constant speed unless stopped or more propulive force is excerted to increase speed.

Yea I understand the fantasy.Too bad space is real. Under that idealogy the devs shouldnt have instituted any "real life" factors in the game

Mass has an effect in space, weight does not. The problem with mass in space is inertia, momentum, etc. The more mass something has, the more momentum it builds while in motion, and the more energy that is needed to stop that motion. All those laws still apply in space(game and real life).

The difference in space is. On the ground, the more mass you have, the more weight you have, and the harder it is to get you moving. In space, getting something moving isn't a problem, but the more mass its got, the harder it is to stop it once it gets rolling.

Now JTL doesn't exactly follow real life physics, but then it wouldn't feel like Star Wars if it did.

Hehe, not true. Mass plays a very important role, Without first year college lvl physics this may not make much sense, but here goes.

Any object has whats called a moment of inertia which is based on its mass and velocity, now, to change the objects velocity you must apply a force, the more inertia the object has the more force required to change that inertia. Therefore a lighter ship will require much less force to change its inertia in any direction (handling).

Also consider that you cant just make a big ship and apply a big force, If the strength of the chassis is to weak the force applied to change the inertia will simply tear the chassis apart.

Also, remember Mass and Weight are not the same thing. Mass is a function of density, Weight is a function of density with a force applied to it (like gravity). A ship can be weightless but still have a HUGE mass and require LOTS of force to more it around.

I hope that makes sense, btw these are real physics concepts, not game created concepts
