There's a fundemental problem with Shipwright at the moment. I have used 200k of steel, aluminuim, and over 140k of low grade ore an inert petrochem and I still don' have 1 tree done in shipwright.
I'm not certain how the devs plan on making ships accesable to new players when the resources required to grid will bankrupt an average player. I know that a tie fighter is bigger than a swoop, but do we really need to make the xp so poor that the only way to be a shipwright is to be a multi millionare resource monger? How are new people expected to be able to afford ships when i am going to have to charge in excess of 200k for a tie/in just to offset the cost of grinding.
I submit that the DEVS need to increase the amount of xp granted for crafting ships by 1/2. It is rather unrealistic to expect people to use over a million resources to just grind out a profession...especially one that is supposed to be helpful for all players...and not just the rich ones!!. I want to make jtl stuff accesable to newbs and veterins alike. But I can't do that when I have no resources and no cash to get more or lay down harvesters. Please take this seriously. Than you for your time!

We all knew this was comming, you should have been prepared. The profession is not supposed to be grinded in 1 day, we chose to do it as players. Most people I know that were going to go Shipwright have been collecting resources for months, others just have the credits to do it.
A cheep way is to mine your own resources, takes time but if you don't want to bankrupt yourself its the way to go. If you didn't see this comming you may not wan't to be a crafter since resource management is 1/2 of what makes you successful doing it.

Dunno, I didn't have a problem with this. I just started mining my own resources a few weeks before JTL was released, and I had the 5.6 million needed to master Shipwright the day it went live. Just took a little planning ahead.

I'm not sure how your going broke unless your grinding in "practice" mode. If that's what your doing, then I guess you've made the choice to sacrifice those resources for the extra 5% xp. If you can't afford to do that, then try actually crafting stuff and selling it.

Oh, you can grind it in a day. You can grind it in an hour or 5...
... you just need the resources. _That_ is the challenge of the SW class.

Lets see, my guild helped me with getting material so the grind was good when i got JTL loaded up.
Well in my guild we are having 2 ppl going for SW. I did my grind and the other is just about the start.
For each person we collected:
2.4mill steel
1.2mill low grade ore
600k aluminum
600k iron
600k inert petrochem
600k fiberplast
Thats alot of material, but easy to get if you have alot of help and friends with lots of harvesters.
Oh and it took me 7 hours to grind.
