So I just found out that I've been flying a Y-wing that has a turret and the ability to bring a gunner. I found this out by posting here.

Am I missing something or is there almost no documentation about that ships and their capabilities?

Like whats the difference between the Y-wing and the Longprobe version? How were we supposed to know the Y-wing could take up a gunner?

Whats the difference in weapond types? Blasters vs Disruptors... etc....

Is any of this documented anywhere or are we explected to discover it ourselves?

Sorry if im missing something obvious.

Saw one in Gamestop. They have game guides with all that info in 'em.

Well, now, it's a company that does game guides for all games. It's not SOE's.

Stuff like that should be listed at the bottom of the ships discription. I'm pretty sure the tier 1 y-wing has it at the bottom of the description.

On there it clearly lists the Y-Wing and the TIE Agressor as two-seater spacecraft. The difference between the longprobe and the normal Y-Wing is that the longprobe has more mass, and is only a one seater. Instead of having a group member control the upper turret, the pilot can fire it in a forward locked position. Also you can tell the difference between weapons and other components by simply examining them in game. In addition to the written descriptions you can see that one weapon (blaster) is an all purpose weapon, one (Ion) is more effective versus shields, and one (disruptor) is more effective versus armor. Each component has values listed for all of the attributes the weapon has, including armor effectiveness, shield effectiveness, etc.

Nah...when you're buying chassis from a vendor, you have no idea what a ship's capabilities are.

yeah, i understand that its not SOE that writes that book.

Its justodd that you have to buy an third party written manual to get the data you should in the one that comes with that game.

Actually, if you examine the blueprint, it gives the mass and hitpoints of the chassis, as well as a lengthy description of the ship.

True, but no how many weapon hardpoints it has, number of passengers, etc. I was getting frustrated trying to figure out which Privateer ships were multipassenger...before I found out that only the YT-1300 us.
