im stuck on that mission to. last time i tried to go directly after the vetern but the other 3 ties kill me. i got him down to 30% armor an he despawned i open a csr ticket about an im waiting for a reply

Yes, there is a time limit for most of the missions.
If you can't do it, then guess what? ASK FOR HELP!
You look like you are afraid of grouping...

Hey all,
Thanks for taking the time to at least read this.
I'm having a problem with one of the early Alliance pilot missions and I can't figure out why. Maybe someone out there has an idea that I haven't thought of. I'm stuck on the mission against the TIE veteran commander. I fly out, engage the escort craft, destroy them, then start in on the commander. But I get his TIE down to around 40-50% and he despawns on me. Every time.
Now I'm not a big video game player. I play with my kids only occasionally. I don't think I'm taking too long to kill him, but I might be. I have a tough time lining up my leading shots on a really regular basis. Has anyone else had the same problem? I've talked to a few people who have done it without problem.

i have similar problam with a privateer corsec mission ! Destroye Spice transport ( Tier 3 privateer pilote : 2 2 2 2 )
i have a exellent engine ( 709 max speed) and every time the Transport Leave the zone, i cant intercept him
its not fun

Thanks for that assessment of my playing style. I have yet to try joining someone to try this, given that it should be soloable since I haven't even unlocked any of my tier 1 skills yet. Also, given the problems of getting a group formed on the ground into space in the same zone instance makes it a little tough to group.
Oh and since you feel inclined to dictate how I should play, I don't suppose you'd care to pay my monthly bill?

What I do is at least disable the target craft first, take out his wingmen, then take him out.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to retry in a little bit and see. I've done the disabling route, but I went through the escort first. I'll reverse and see.

Finished it today... I don't know if I plowed through the escort faster or what, but I made it through them pretty easily. Locked on to the veterans engines and took him out. It still felt like it took awhile to get a good tailing position where I could lead him consistently, but it was such a great feeling to finally disable him, line up the gun sights on him and vaporize him!
