I currently was told to go to lok to talk to the trainer there...and i'm currently going to be takings missions from her, but is there a better place to fly and get some xp at this level? Or sam i just supposed to continue with these quests?
I didnt really play beta or anything so im a bit lost when it comes to the whole thing...
In addition, i bought a master shipwright crafted y-wing after finishing my first tier and have been using that since.

and
Keep Going !!
Just take the same missions once you reach Tier 2 you will be in new space (Tier1 is instanced space for n00bies) and the baddies will give more that 400XP at a time. So just get your fist box and it will be better.

After you complete the 1st tier of missions, I would say that you are ready to travel around the galaxy and look for the enemies. You still need to do missions for the trainer every now and then to keep getting trained, but you will be very successful in gaining xp if you to some hunting on your own without doing missions.
Just fly somewhere and keep hitting the T key until you find good targets. Tier 2 and if you have some decent guns and manuvering, tier 3.

I did the duty missions which is Dedicated spawns. No need to fly around you sit there and take out as many as you can till you either max or get bored.... I did fly around i bit to travel the other sectors and some things do give a little more xp.

Once you can put in lvl 5 wepaons, goto the Imp station in Lok and fight the spawned TIEs, the teir 3s are pretty easy at that point and give 1k per kill, also the Duty missions after the first several waves the XP gets good.

One thing I don't think a lot of people notice, if you do the open ended missions form your trainer, the one's designed to give you xp. After the first 'fighter wing' is taken out you get a waypoint for the second 'wing' to start. This second wing gives you more xp than the first, then the third, even more xp, it is progressive. I would not recomend doing more than 2 1/2 wings, or 3 if you are really really good, without a group. With a group I have taken out up to 6 fighter wings, at this point we could have kept going, but we needed a break.

I'vesoloedmy way through and completed a Rebel Duty Mission at Tier 1 before... it took a while, but it gave me enough XP to train two boxes. And I never took any armor damage in my Z-95.
Tier2 is somewhat more daunting, though.

Correct. Once you complete your Training mission (you have to do one training mission per box). If you do not have enough xp to train he will give you duty missions.

XeroHaven, I'm kind of in the same boat you are. I was told to go to Dantooine and continue my duties from there. I've been doing that, but since it's a bit of a hike to get to the Abandoned Rebel base where the questgiver is, I've also been running duty missions from ANOTHER pilot trainer, the guy on Corellia. He gave me duty quests too...ones that were actually a lot easier than the ones based off of Dantooine. So I'm mixing it up, getting XP either way.
