Am I the only one out there who thinks SOE had a chance to add great Star Wars musical scores to the game with this expansion and blew it?

I love listening to this music, call me a nerd if you must, but I have the original trilogy soundtrack, and after listening to it, and comparing it with the game, Im pretty annoyed that there are only 3 battle music scores, and the loop so damn quickly(Especially the space slug escape theme).

I don't know if the devs actually look at these forums or not, but I BEG you guysto go and look at other star wars games....borrow their combinations for battle related music, and impliment it...Im lovin JTL so far, but the battle music gets soooo annoying if you don't bother to give a listener more refreshes on the ears.

If this is viewed as a minor complaint by the lot of you, then I admire your patience to endure these 3 short and loopy battle themes.

So far, I'm liking the music. Gee, it only came out a few days ago. You musta been in beta I guess.

Can't they just add more music at any time?? I'm all for liberal use of music if it works, i.e. if it can be coriographed to the action. X Wing Alliance, I believe, did a good job of this.

may just be me, but....

I think the battle music in JTLS in space sounds like the battle music in original series Star Trek , everytime it starts I have a vision of Kirk in black eyeliner!

Not you man, I got the trilogy sound track cds as well, and the music is VERY lame... I was all exited about the space slug escape thing when it first started playing... then i heared how crappy and quick the loop was.. lame...

Battle of hoth theme

Imperial March

Battle of Endor

These are three fantastic scores of many (just can't remember the names)

Most times, I organize all the combat music into one play list when I pvp... sounds lame, but the experiance is amazing IMO. It really gets that much better.

Space music is just a boring dull loop. I'd even prefer ground combat musics like previous days of Beta.

Why not wehearing other music? Because "money" is the issue on John Williams to buy more tunes to put in..

The music is from starwars obviously, composed and what not by John Williams.. listen to a soundtrack or two from the various movies and im sure youll recognize this.

What really really really annoys me is the way its totally messed up... theres often several pieces of music playing at once, and its so damn annoying.. anyone able to let that go though QA must either be deaf or have no musical sense what so ever.

Heres an example:

Background music is playing, youre in combat...

You complete you task, new piece of music starts (the"mission complete" or "combat done"overlapping the background music, making a musical mess.

While this happens, your new task is assigned and yet another jingle starts, now causing complete musical nausea to the point where im about to go take a look at my breakfast.

How about having some subdued travel music, being crossfaded or even smoothly looped to battlemusic.. and having the battle music themed to what youre fighting? ie. if youre fighitng valarians you get one piece of music, if its blacksun its another, if its rebels a third ect. ect. perhaps even with 2-3 different pieces of combat music that will be selected randomly...

Any musical markers such as "combat ended" or "new mission waypoint aquired" or whtaever should be played by quickly fading out whatever background or battle music is playing, play the informative jingle, then fade background or combat music up again.

Music is such an important factory for setting the mood and tone of whatever youre doing and its completely bonkers in this game...

Lets take another example (this being why i for 90% of the game turns off sound completely)

My first ever SWG impression... i go out of mos eisley... with my cdef gun.. having just created my new character ever.

i see a big toad....

i shoot at the big toad....

-instantly- bombastic battle war music is booming out my head phones while the toad limps toward me... huh?!?! its a TOAD... not a klingon bird of pray!! argh... comon.. you can do better than this, if youre fighting lowlevel mobs, have some appropriate lowlevel mob fighting music that does not sound like the planet is just about to be destroyed if you dont kill this measly toad.. infact, differentiate fighting critters and npcs all together music wise.

please.. im on my knees here, bleeding and what not.

Wow, Im surprised at the feedback on this thread, surprised and pleased to see I'm not alone. You guys put into better words what Ive been thinking.

I did play beta, early on in it, there was no battle music, and believe it or not, I found that BETTER than the music they play now. No music is more tolerable than the 3 loopy scores they have now. Alittle further in beta, they implimented the battle music on the ground. The music on the ground is also of poor quality, but Ive tolerated it since release, thus didnt mind it in space.

Devs....again, please take to heart what these guys are saying, John Williams' music was one of the few things to SURPASS Lucas's expectations during the filming of the original films...do everyone a favor and put it to good use!
