I just boughta Saitek X52 controller for JTL and I can not get the programming portion to work. I have set up a new profile 'SWG', original huh, and it loads down to the joystick OK. But when I try to use the new controls nothing works. For example, I am using the T1 switch for system map and T2 for hyperspace map. Thought I would start out with something simple to see if things work and can't seem to get it. Is there anything that I am missing? Options within the game? I am running under Windows XP. I know there have been quite a few posts about the X52, but I have not seen anything aout this specifically. Thanks for any help. Kkat

Dumb question... have you actualy gone into the SWG keymap and changed the key bindings in the game?

It sounds like you are trying to use a Joystick profile to put the buttons where they "belong" for you... it may be simpler to use the key bindings to select the command you want and press the button you want to preform it... just a thought.

I have checked the keybindings and am assigning the same keystrokes to the joystick as are assigned to the keyboard. Thanks though. However, since posting this I have figured out what I was doing wrong. The saitek manual says that if you are running windows SP2, not to install the Found Hardware that pops up. So, I believed them. First mistake!! Late last night I re-istalled hte joystick and allowed the Windows installer to do what it wanted and waa-laa. Everything works. I can assign keys to joystick controls.

For those of you out there experiencing problems with the saitek heres a quick way to check if your joystick is installed correctly. create a new profile and assign keystrokes to say HAT 2, I chose a-h for 8 button mode. Save it and load the profile to the joystick and then open up notepad or MS word. Once open, rotate HAT 2 and you should see A-H pop up just like you were typing. If they do not appear, you have issues with installation. Good hunting all!!! Kkat

Glad to hear it is working and if you prefer to configure the joystick outside of the game go for it.

I perfer to bind buttons on the joystic to the functions in the game and leave the keyboard out of it completely (going into the keybindings under options and assigning the buttons to commands... it wil take 3 keys total one for a mouse one for a keyboard and one for a joystick) but if it is working your way more power to you.
