I feel like the privateer profession is a bit lame, for lack of a better word. I bought the expansion with exciting fantasies of being a space pirate, but that's definitely not what happened. I run around doing missions destroying and escorting for Beissa and Jabba's profit, but I don't get too much out of it. I spend about 70k on components every now and then, and it is not quite made up for by Beissa's meager rewards for my work in space. What happened to that solitary, individuality-geared "I take orders from one person and one person only, and that's ME." attitude?

First of all, the Smuggler profession should be real; smugglers should actually be running Imperial blockades and stuff. Imperials should be on the lookout in some of the systems that would be more likely to have smuggler traffic, and they should stop ships that look suspicious (especially cargo-freighters) and force them to be borded and inspected. A smuggler with a shady cargo could either set a course to another system, at which point his actions should be detected and responded to, or he could drop his cargo and sit there , pulling a straight face. It would bring a whole new element into the game: crime.

As we all know, in a galaxy fueled almost entirely by the corruption of the government and major crime syndicates, as well as most otherwise-legitimate businesses, crime is what binds the galaxy together and tears it apart. It is such a major element of the Star Wars Galaxy that the devs cannot afford to leave it out. PVP, PVE, and almost any other element of the game that you can think of, are tainted with unbalance and problems that send many people, including myself, whining incessantly to the devs. I believe that the answer to all of these issues lies in or can be attained through the addition of crime into the SWG. I also believe that dying should not be such a common practice, and when it does happen, it should be very bad, so that people fear it. But that's for another forum, some other night. Moving on:

All pilots, especially privateers, should be able to more effectively modify their ships. I know that we can put heavily experimented components in our ships, but we can't even switch power couplings in our engines or guns with some higher-grade, perhaps contraband couplings to increase performance in that component.

We could also do with a nice, new ship or two. We really need a new ship for PVP with similar stats as those in the higher-level faction ships.

And criminals who are stupid enough to get caught should be punished severely so that people really care a lot whether or not the Imps get their hands on them.

Muchos Gracias, Tiggs. Mull it over.

although i agree with you, this has been one of the biggest complaints from the Smuggler community since the early days of the game.

now we just roll around, drink beer and eat pie.

I know you are not condoning illegal activity in my sector! Give me your cargo manifest and your identification papers... You and your crew will be detained while my men search your ship...
