This has been posted a million times that the physics is just outragous.

But common seriously if you are following something at the same speed and at the same distance the whole time it should stay that way right?

Well if you boost and catch up to within 20 or so meters and then slow down wouldnt you stay that same distance and not slow down as you were following the same speed earlier?

wrong because you will rubberband and end up 200m away

Remember that the Star Wars universe is is not our universe; it is a game based. Our laws of physics are different than the universe of Star Wars.

In reality the vacuum of space has no particles in it and if someone shot a pistol in space the bullet would travel in a line forever. However, in the SW universe, if a ship is going 500 mph and its engines are shot off, then in a few seconds the ship would come to a stop.

There is also the possiblily of griefing. If some one could boost on then match speed with some one they could stay on their tail for a long time. It would mean that a TIE Bomber with a booster could go as fast as an AWing without one.

The physics of this game are not the same ones in real life. If you try to accept that then you can start to plan ahead and use the mechanics to your advantage.Just don't try to exploit, exploiting is a no no.

A couple other things to note. If both objects are going the same speed, and following the exact same velocity in a straight line... Then yes. The minute you start changing directions, (provided you are thrusting) you start changing your velocities. When you do this the person on your tail cannot match move-for-move what you are doing and that gap between you both will increases and decrease. Depending on relative velocities and response times and ship performance you may overtake your target or lag far behind. This is why there is dog fighting and fighter tactics. Even though these refer to atmospheric flight, the principals are the same.

Now, Star Wars space physics are more or less atmospheric in their rules. There is quasi resistance and other such forces. This is more to simplify the game and make the movies look more dramatic and something that folks can easily identify with.

If there REALLY space ships and space combat, the tactics would be VASTLY different. So take it and make it more like atmospheric dog fighting and that is what you have here. And when you start banking and juking you change relative velocities and can increase and decrease distances, etc. Do some web searches on fighter aircraft maneuvers. You will find many many moves designed to keep the threat on your nose or shake a threat from your tail.

rubberbanding is when your throttle cuts to 0 for a split second and then goes back to full, it happens every 2 minutes or so to me and it is really annoying, especially when turnfighting cause you have to reaquire your target
