Thread: Training in JTL...

I’ve been sitting in frustration for the last couple of days scratching my head and trying to figure out why the training system works the way that it does for JTL.

Perhaps, I am missing something and, hopefully, I have and, hopefully, someone can help get me out from between this rock [asteroid] and hard place that I find myself in.

Here is my situation:

I am doing a Tier 3 mission for the Inquisitor [Emperor’s Palace on Naboo], he wants me to go and inspect Dr. Shinns’ ship and receive evidence that he has been plotting against the creation of the second Death Star.

Piece of cake, disable the ship. Dock. Receive the evidence and now comes the second part of the mission…

Go to a waypoint to transmit the evidence back to the Inquisitor. That’s when things fall apart rather quickly…You must stay in the location to transmit the information while being hammered up by a bunch of “baddies”, with my current ship [TIE/In] I am unable to complete this mission.

Here is my dilemma:

The only way that I can figure to survive this mission is to have a better ship [TIE Inceptor] and jump back into the Frey… however, I am unable to get trained so that I can get the ship…

Apparently, you must be able to complete the mission to get training and I am unable to complete the mission unless I HAVE training…

Is there another way in which to get training, rather than from the mission NPC? And if not, who was the genius that came up with a system that prevents you from using the skill points you amass while trying to complete a mission 6 times so that you might be able to get the training and skills you need so that you CAN complete the frelling mission?

As it stands, without training I can not complete this task [nor can I advance my current ship anymore than it already is]…

One side note, I did try and use someone else’s help to try and complete it and they increased the amount of enemies and ALL of the enemies targeted me… not ONE targeted the other player!!

Please help!

Nate

NO.

Ah...see below

Tier 3 is a kind of "special" Tier. There is no need for any XP here to get the next box and no way to get the next box without completeing the mission from the NPC trainer who gave it to you. The ONLY way to obtain the next box is to complete the assigned mission.

Tier 3 is what everyone calls the "Hell Tier" because it is the most difficult to complete (precisely because of the above reason) regardless of which squadron/faction you fly for. There are two things that can help you get through it.

First -don't try to take everything on. Shoot to disable (works especially well during escort missions) - you don't needany XP for this Tier, all you need to do is finish the mission. So leave you enemies floating in space as you travel on - cuts down on spawns big time.

Second - and most importantly - get help (the more the merrier!) and stay out of the fighting as much as you can. I say this because if you die the entire mission is for naught. Everyone who helps you knows this, so you won't be labeled a coward. Believe me there is nothing more frustrating than helping someone get through 4 parts of a 5 part mission just to see them get waxed in the 5th part because they tried to help...then EVERYBODY has to start all over... So don't be afraid to stay well out of harms way -your group members will actually appriciate it. They want to see you complete the mission as much as you do.

Hope that helps.

Also you will find never ending spawns, you can hyper out to another sopt in theSAME SYSTEM and still go on with the mission. Dont do that on the destroy missions though, just the survive and delivery missions. Also get and use droid commands, they are like buffs for space.

Read through the second link in my sig. (Learning to fly)

I will be putting together something else very soon, I already started it and should have it up within a day or 2.

(I was supposed to do it last month )

I realise if you're at tier 3 then a lot of it is just refresher but even I reread it to give me a little more focus sometimes.

Plus - you can re-optimize your current ship for this mission.

It may mean a total re-think of your current equipment and/or visiting a msw to get kitted out (one that is also an ace please! he'll know his stuff!)

And yes, getting help IS the answer if all else fails --> just remember to get help from someone who knows what he's doing, not just any Joe Bloe down the way. And communicate! with each other! Tell him what the mission requires next and if possible send him ahead.
