Does anyone has the following problem (link to the thread):
I have joystcik Saitek x42 and I have problem with getting max speed in my ships. With my engine of 92.1 speed I should be getting 921 speed (Tie Advanced). However I do not always can get that speed. Sometimes I get 918 or 914, to solve the problem I have to drop speed a little bit and then to accelerate again to maximum.
Does anyone else have such problems? In joystick configuration window (calibration window in Control Panel) joystick always shows max speed.

there are 2 ways to deal with this (and it's a hardware issue, nothing to do w software).
the pot that measures the travel of the throttle will slip a bit, meaning when you push the throttle to 100%, the pot is only at about 98 or so. you can either push the hell out of it, or map a button to max throttle (i use the one on the front of the throttle), or you can calibrate it to reach 100% sooner.
to calibrate it like this, go into control panel, and bring up the game controlers, then your joystick, when you calibrate the throttle, move it almost to 100%, but not quite. to make this work, you must not push the throttle all the way up. how ever far forward you push it will be calibrated as the max forward limit, and will function as 100%.
i just use the button on the front
quick and easy.

As you can see on the control panel of the joystick I can easily reach 100% position (and if I reach those 100% I can still move throttle a little but forward - may be 1 degree os so). Pushing the hell out of it doesn't help. But if I just reduce speed and then increase again I can reach the maximum speed.
You can also see that Saitek x45 drivers don't provide calibration capabilities (and I have the very latest drivers installed).
To re-calibrate it I would have to use 3rd party software and I wouldn't like to do that as I don't trust it.

Unfortunately I use all buttons and have no button left to map max speed on it.

that's strange. i have xp, and i have the calibrate option on the tab. but i don't have any drivers for it installed either (xp doesn't need them, and i never use the profiler). maybe you should try it that way?

My x36 had the same problem sent it in and had saitek fix it. I think the throt just wears out over time.

Ah ok my bad. Mine was stuck at about 98% in the control panel not just in a game.

Sorry, but I just bought it. Also, the joystick control panel shows max speed...
