Thread: New ships why?

I almost agree. I have made TONS of posts about asking for larger MP ship. I pearsonaly want more MP to be able to work as a team on a ship not just as a pilot. This brings back what a lot of people I belive want in JTL larger ship battles. The reason I think people want more larger ship battle is because there are TONS of space sims. I know I have a lot of them ever since the good old days of tie fighter the computer game. Its just diffrent than sitting in a large MP ship working with the other people on board. There is more to it.

I have a few ideas for making MP ships more useful.


1. New weapons: What the problem is now with MP ships is your targets already fly by when you are shooting from a turrent and then the pilot does a 90 degree turn and you loose your target completely. A posiable idea is to place a beam weapon or in a ship and let turret use it much like a missle launcher is used. This would slow a target letting the gunner more able to hit its target. Now of course this weapons needs to be hard to get so it will cost a ton and use TONS amount of energy so its not abused. Now people that are getting ready to hit that one star for that suggestion think about it a sec. There is a ship that has about 3-4 at least in it maybe even 5-6 with a full crew. The ship costs tons more than fighters (not to even talk about arming them) and in a space battle they are toasted faster than anything else I have ever been in. Plus we are not talking bring the ship to a stop just slowing it to give the gunner a chance.


2. (NOT MY IDEA) This isn't my idea it was on another post but I agree with it. Letting people reload missles in a MP ships from the inside would help a lot.


3. A moving repair station. Have you ever been disabled by and some one just lets you sit there and you know if you eject that it will take you a long time to get back into battle. What if novas or desimators could have a claw that repair other ships. The MP ship would just have to load it with repair kits. Maybe not a full repair maybe a 25% just something to help out.And again the claw would take up mass and would be placed were the missles would have been placed. So not every MP ship will have it. ( Now I am willing to back off of this idea because I realize its full of holes. What if some guy just had his buddy follow him around and was always repairing so he would be unstopable. So Again I would be willing to back away from this one just thought maybe some one could build on it)


4. More armor: I think MP ships would be able to ramp up on armor more than they can now. By doing so would make it so they would not be toasted in 3 hits of a tie oppessor in a PvP fight now.


5. Also being able to dock with other MP ships and go into others ships will also add more use to ships. When you are in deep space your desimator and joe needs to go to his guitar lesson and bob wants to come. You shouldn't have to go all the way back to corillia to pick him up. Some one else could drop him off instead


But when we do this we also need to make MP ships with more things to do.


6.(Again not my idea) I got this from another post I am sure some people saw but I agree with it 100%. First off I heard something about mining in space. People could hook up something that would harvest metals or gas in space. But make it so they would have it in place of a turrent. This would make MP ships have more than one reason for being.


7. We need theme parks in space I added a suggestion for one in my thead (Capital ship battle). Were a rebel capital ship and a impeiral capital ship are heading towards each other and you can dock and do mission to help each side get ready for the battle. We need things like this to make JTL what it was suppost to be.


8. living in space. We also need people that will almost always live in space so space ships will almost become a 100% part of there SWG lives. Another post suggested this. Space stations that let people rent rooms and set up shops. If they could set up there work shop in space and mine gas and metals in space. Then all the would need to do is land to full their vendors.Of course we need to make sure that land artisans are not left in the dust by some huge ablity that the JTL have and the regular SWG don't.


9. Space perks. Right now there are some things that can be refinedbetterin space in RL. Such as medicine and minitrals. How about some Minor perks for crafting in space. Nothing to fancy much like the city specialization are now.

So whats all the fuss about craving new ships if once you hit master or (ace) there isnt any new content or cool missions to use the ship in the first place?


also, are we talk'n about just mak'n new ships for master, or are we talking about putting new exciting ships in all of the current 1 - 4 skill boxes?


Honestly. people ask for the YT-2400 just how i crave flying a Lambada class (ty ) shuttle. But unfortantly, after i hit master will i really end up using the ship for anything useful other than just helping out the new guys who jump into space as a novice?


I like the idea of working as a team, and i like how the system works, becuase i cant think of another way to make it reasonable and balanced, as an example you dont need missions for space if you make tons ofcredits like most do off of LOOT. i dont know how things could really change much to offer more ships and why someone would use them.


Any ideas? ( open to all opinions )

I'd like a "Multi-Passenger" class of ship.


Here's how I define it:


  • Only requires a pilot, i.e. one man crew.

  • Pilot can get out of chair and walk around ship.

  • Items can be placed in ship.

  • Other players can come aboard and walk around the ship.

  • Has forward gun and missile hard points.

  • Probably shouldn't have turrets, but maybe they could be added as an optional extra (?) at the sacrifice of a gun mount (i.e. finite number of capacitors), at a star ship terminal.

So, it's pretty much like the Yacht, but you can upgrade the components, it will thus handle better (than the yacht), and has weapon systems. I also imagine to fit in with the "one man crew" theme that it would be slightly smaller than the existing multi-player ships.

as a faction pet kinda thing we should be able to buy like a starship and u have to have X ammount of people to man it and it can only attack In Kessel or deep space. that would be pretty awesome make it cost like max ammount of FPs
