What happens to my parts? Is it better to buy repair packs from Shipwrights, or would getting repaired at the local Space Station after a complete explosion be better?
What does it reduce when you get repaired at a station/repair kits?

I've not noticed any difference between the two methods of repairing my ship but I always carry a repair tool on my just in case I get blown up and lose connection.
It's a lot less fun trying to buy a repair tool when you have to then when you don't.

Any time you repair normally, the components will decay at a rate of 1/10. For every 10points of damage, 1 point of decay. The only way around that is to be an Ace and travel to Deep Space and back.

If the repair amount is less the 10 points (ie doing a "just a little" repair on 39 points of damage-> 25% repair so its just under 10 points repaired), you will not incur decay.

Does this formula apply to the stress on componentsfromusing droid commands as well?
I find, after using any dorid commands (engine overload , reactor overload etc. ), componenet repairis always necessiary.

Yup.
So, two options: Deep Space, or like the above poster mentioned, you can just repair less than 10 points of damage at time (Deep Space is faster, if that's an option)
