Thread: Corsec mission help
What are you flying? If you're not using a Dunelizard, I strongly recomend it. The two gun slots are absolutely wonderful. Get two level 6 REd guns in there, and that gunboat should be scrap in short order.
hehe yeah, even the most experienced pilots heart rate goes up when a Gunboat appears in a mission but asTreenasez, this ones a bit of a pussycat, good time to smooth off some of those GB nerves actually, start to practice your IMGB (In Mission Gunboat) tactics.
First off, sounds obvious but make sure you're using good kit. If you're only using loot items you've recovered in your travels then take a look at the Galactic Vendor Search you'll find SW created items are far superior and you can often get great items at bargain prices so dont worry too much about the cost.
Second and you'll see this comment in every 'Help Me!!!' thread ever. Droid programs. Capacitor 3 overcharge and Weapon 3 should be with you from the second you get your first droid skill, they're invaluable.
Third, the tactics. Everyone knows the trick of killing GB's in Kessel or DS, reb style ones won't shoot down so you can sit under 'em all day and just blow off the weapons and components in complete safety; Imp ones just require you to stay at 540-560m where you can shoot them but they won't return fire.
In Mission Gunboats are a completely different bucket o' fishheads tho, they'll spin and turn and chase you across the Galaxy. In my experience, the Tier 5 Imp style GB is the hardest thing in the game, so here's how to tackle IMGB's:
If you know it's coming, be prepared... You can't do GB's the same way you do most missions in JTL, one hand on the Joystick, the other swigging coke, half an eye on the clock and yawning, they're dangerous and should be treated with far more respect. If you know there's a GB in your upcoming mission, load up for it.
Consider taking missiles, shield killers are especially useful but Torps are fine in a pinch.
Know where you're Cap to Shield shunt droid programme button is, you'll need it.
Imperial? Emergency Weapons are devastating *if* you know that once your GB is dead, the rest of the targets are pretty easy (Eweapons and Bomber Strike tend to remove all your droid programmes so be prepared for that).
So what's the best tactic for taking them out? ENGINES! You shoot off it's engines and you're free to hit those 'safe zones' (remember anywhere under a reb one, anywhere 540-560m from an Imp one) and finish it at your leisure. Best way is to target the engines and simply charge them. Fire everything you have, eweapons, missiles, the works, fly straight thru (you can slow up before and do a 180 if you were lucky enough to come in *under* a reb style GB) Booster out once on the other side. Fly away nice and quick (you do have engines good enough to outrun it right?) and then wait a while for the shields to recharge (droid programmes to reload) and do it all again. Soon enough the engines will *pop*, you can fly on a bit and take down those annoying fighters before returning to finish the job.
There ya go sweets, one IMGB guide, just for you.

ok but why does the trainer say to get out of there if black suns show up?
not sure exactly... but you could try hypering out. If you fail then that was meant for only the first part of the mission.
I think what the trainer says is really just for the patrol portion of this mission, or just for content. Pay attention to the mission updates for what you need to accomplish.
The YT-1300 was a bear for me in this mission. Just didn't want to die. After finally finishing it off the next spawn wasn't too bad. I don't think all of mine were tier5 though. Target through the wave and finish off/disable the ships that are the highest threat first. The fast and light ships can be saved till last because their guns usually don't pack as much punch.

I am currently using an Ixiyen with 93.5k mass, 1265 shields and weapons doing 1500-2100 damage at 62%. Not sure how this compare to a good loadout but it seems OK. Pretty much what I had in my dunelizard but the extra mass allows me to change things around a bit, add some decent armor.
I'm a far cry from breezing through the missions though.I'm 4433 and trying to finish it all solo.
