Thread: Freelance Grinding FP in space...?

Everyone keeps telling me to go into space to grind faction xp, but it's either not possible for freelance pilots or I'm making some noob mistake, so I'm asking if someone can clear this up for me.

I'm a Freelance ace pilot and I'm imperial on the ground. I visit one of the Imperial space stations & it wont talk to me. I go into deepspace & join the imperial side but still no faction points...?

...which faction space base though? The Imperial stations I've tried to talk to just tell me to join the empire before they'll talk. I do hope this is something I'm doing wrong as I do not want to drop my ace pilot just so I can do the faction point thing in space.

for freelance(imp on ground) , to go overt , goto empire station2 and talk to them, you should then to be able to earn FP when destroying reb ships. your overt status gets reset every time you land so you'll need to declare each time you want to.

Edit : sry forgot to put, empire station2 is located in endor

Thank you, that's the answer I'm looking for..... hooray. (I didn't realise I that I needed faction points to wear faction armour. Doh!)

Umm, I think you have this backwards. You HAVE to be overt in Deep Space. It's just that it's an automatic thing for Imp/Reb pilots, but neutrals MUST choose.

Edit: I know this because I was shooting at Rebel aligned neutral pilots last night IN DS.

You are incorrect.

Anyone that enters DS is declared to one side of the faction or the other, but if you don't declare at an Imperial space station bfore going into Deep Space, you don't get faction off the kills....thus a declared Imperial in DS gets faction and is in PVP. An Imperial that is not declared beforehand is still open to PVP and can still attack the Rebel ships, but they get no FP from the kills. It is the latter (getting FP in DS) that a privateer can not do.

There are 2 switches that must be thrown to get FP in DS. One is declaring your faction, the other is declaring PVP when you go into DS. Privateers can not throw that last switch when the first one is thrown.

Interesting... I never bothered declaring in DS, mostly because I'm sitting on like 20k FP now, lol.

Yup, thats the difference between Overt and PvP enabled. Freelance can only get to Deep Space PvP enabled not Overt. To gain faction as a Freelance you are limited to killing spawns in Normal sectors. I don't think there are any Duties you can get that will spawn Faction foes for you.
