Deep space and Kessel are accessible via deep space space stations. There is an imperial one in Endor near the durillium Sea Hyper point, and a freelancer station in dathomir near dark force if I remember correctly. Rebel one I've heard is in dantoine (?) but I'm not sure.
You cannot go to deep space until you make master and then you need 30k pilot pretige each time you go there. Kessel is open to all players and accessible from same space station.
To go to kessel or deep space approach the appropriate space station, and /comm with it. One of the menu options should be go to kessel or go to deep space.

Anyone can goto Kessel, only Masters (or people in a ship with masters) can goto Deep space.

If you're Freelance, ridiculously easy. Reb or Imp, moderately easy. Why? Simple. As freelance, you can attack any fighter in the zone and as far as I know they'll only get mad should you fire upon them. If I'm wrong about that last part, someone say so. The same non-attack rule seems to apply in a lesser form for Rebs and Imps as you can stick to one fighter at a time and rarely be harrassed by other fighters.
Edit: Everything in Kessel is Tier 5 except for the Vette. The Vette is like a great many Tier 5 ships bundled into one all-purpose killing machine.
