Quick question for those of you that have been playing JTL. A co-worker of mine played SWG for about a week, and put it down. He's interested in JTL, but he had a pretty good question--how much time does it take to get into something more than the trainer ship?

I've been toying with Shipwright stuff myself (getting to the point that I can start that trade), so I haven't really gotten a feel for what things cost, or how one might actually go about getting a larger/better/configurable ship.

Any thoughts? This is a guy that might play a couple of hours a night.

Speaking as a rebel, it only took a little while, an hour or so, to get the certification for a Y-Wing. Getting up to an X-Wing took significantly longer, though. I did that over a weekend when I had a lot of spare time. So, if your friend isn't looking to get into the high end ships right away, they can definitely play and have fun in the lower tier ships. If they have their heart set on flying one of the advanced fighters, they will be frustrated.

i'm 3/2/2/2 with nearly 700k banked xp after 1 week of playing. if your friend isn't antisocial and doesn't mind getting a few people together to group through missions, he'll be fine.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a "credit" cost to upgrading ships at those levels, though? Apologies for potentially demonstrating my overwhelming ignorance, but I was under the impression there'd be a lot of buying of ships, parts, etc. Again, I have not really investigated space flight, short of maybe 2 missions.

In case that last message wasn't clear, what is the cost to move out of the initial training ship? I think his thought was he'd be killing Ikopi for Seth the Farmer for the next 3 months to buy a better ship.
