Thread: Thoughts and proposals on JtL

First of all, I am extremely satisfied with JtL. It's a little slower now that I've hit master, and PvP isn't the easiest thing to find, but lately it's been picking up. I'm very happy with the difficulty level of the missions. I know that I hear people complaining about how some missions are harder than others depending on where you took your starting location, but I hear the same things from within my guild about the missions I soloed with ease. Some people just aren't good or have horrible equipment and need to fix that. But everything else is great... save for lag. Huge battles will drop my fps to 5, and I can't hit like that. But that's my computer's fault, and I'll probably looking for an upgrade soon. But on to real issues:

First of all, Kessel and Deep Space are relatively empty. The only things in kessel are a few asteroid fields, a nebula, and 2 corvettes. After you kill a corvette a few times with your pals it's not as incredibly exciting as it was the first time(but still is alot of fun). Deep space has an awesome Imperial Star Destroyer and a big Rebel Space Station, and every so often inbetween them will be huge space battles between Rebels and Imperials, but too often I go up there and the entire system is completely empty, save for a group of fighters that are "camping" the ISD or the RSS. This camping needs to be put to a stop, but not with some ridiculous change like increasing the range or firepower of turrets... those are nasty as they are now, lol.

Second is multiplayer ships. I cannot see any reason to usemy Decimator, in any combat situation. Yes, I can fit everything under the sun into the giant thing, but I'll need 5-6 players to man in effeciently. 1 pilot, 1 "navigator", 2 turrets, and a doctor underneath making repairs. The turrets jerk around, and you can't enter a 1st person view with them (what I use to fly), so for some it's rather difficult to hit things. The thing is horribly slow, butI know it's supposed to be slow, butthis makes it almostuseless in PvP,where in 2-4 shots you're dead no matter what.I would take 5 Tie Advanced over a decimator any day (and the same would probably go for the YT and the Nova Cruiser).

Third is PvP. I know it's real and fantastic that we all die in 2-3 shots, but I still get decay on all of my ship when I die in PvP, so either remove that, or put in a damage reduction (like on the ground)that will make PvP more interesting than just"getting the drop" on someone.

Fourth is client crashes. This needs to be fixed NOW. I can't count the times I've failed missions or I've been killed due to a client crash, and many times when it happens to my friends, they have to make a full scan every time they want to log in. The only way my friend got this fixed was to completely reinstall the game. That seems like a huge hassle, especially since he still crashes (he doesn't full scan every time nowthough), and any fix would be appreciated.

Fifth is capital ship AI. Some of these things are just stupid. Black Eclipse in Dathomir will let me and my buds fly all around it, blow it to hell, and gain a free 33k xp and some possible loot. Rebel gunboats will do the same thing (but we don't get to fly all around it, only behind it, hehe). Corvettes are ok it seems, they just make me mad when theydecide to turn on a dime and have all their big guns pointed in your face, :-P.

Sixth is craft customization... I WANT TO PAINT MY TIE FIGHTER DANGIT! lol

Seventh is the end reward for master... I got a jacket, and an Ace Tie Helmet. Now, the jacket I love, I wear it everywhere, it goes great with my Matrix Levis, but the helmet seems like it's just for decoration, because I have NOTHING that will match with it!!! Aaah! And it looks so cool! Also, my alien buddies are having trouble wearing it, it would be awesome if they could get something for their efforts too (other than that lovely top box that is).

Eighth is loots. I hate it when you destroy the Rebel Space Station and all you get is a bunch of level 1 junk that should be tossed into the scrapper immediately after you reverse engineer it. The credits it give are nice (uh-oh, hope no one gets the connection...), but for blowing up corvettes and gunboats and space stations you'd expect to get something nicer than the stuff I looted off of tier 2's. The mass on loot is sometimes rather silly, but I have weapons and equipment that will fit my ship, and I guess all that really high end stuff is intended for the multiperson ships that can handle the mass (rather easily).

Whoop, gotta go. I'll check back later.

If you want to use the Decimator, advertise in Theed that you're looking for a crew to fly with you.

It's more complicated than that. Shooting from a turret is completely different than shooting from a ship. You have to deal with the movements of the target, you turret, AND your ship. And you need to be working together and very effeciently in order to even survive in some cases. I would like to see a boost to the capabilities of the multi-passenger ships in terms of armor and weapons, as they're not supposed to be as agile as A-Wings or anything.

On another note, what's up with the mission icons above npc's heads with the fighters flying around it? Are those missions? I've talked to a few, and they just made comments about how I'm a pilot, where as before they just told me I wasn't a pilot.

More thoughts:

Ugh, I am so sick and tired of all the whining about how this game is "too hard." I hear it from everyone. Rebels, Imperials, Freelancers, people outside of my guild, people inside of my guild, people who are in the same squadron as me. I did my missions, most of them solo, it can't be that hard. My equipment was fair for the most part, save for shields which were always horrible, but I relied more on my speed than my shields to keep me alive. Butitdoesn'tsurprise me to learn that the same people who complain about the game being too hard are the same who still try to turn at max speed, or hold the trigger down until their capacitor has gone to 0, or never use their pilot or droid abilities, or use really high mass loot, etc. It's as if they try the mission the same way, 20 times over, expecting a different result each time, and get frustrated when they get owned. Also, for those who complain about ship decay, you can eject, and no decay will effect your ship, only your wounds/bf.

Also, on exploits:

Yesterday there was (and I believe still is)a bug with the Rebel Space Station in Deep Space (possibly also with the Imperial Star Destroyer). For those of you who do not know, it is the end-all 00ber mob for us Imperials to take down. It has corvettes and gunboats around it, tons of fighters, and about 22 some odd turrets. For killing it, you get 10k prestige points (equivilant to xp), a bunch of horrible 1-3 level loots, and around 20k-1mill credits. The only good thing you get is credits. Well, it so happens that some players in our game discovered some ways to destroy the Space Station without any risk at all, and gain several hundred million credits a night. A NIGHT. Some of them were doing it without getting aggroed, others could sit there and take every single shot and not have to worry about a thing. Some peoplehavebeenbanned for this, even though they were e-mailed about it and told "they were safe, but they should stop". But some others continue to use this exploit and are ruining the economy and the spawn rates in Deep Space, and as far as I know the CSRs are just watching. So when prices go up even further on ship parts and chassis, you'll know who to blame.
