Well to become a Smugglers Alliance pilot you need to talk to...the guy in the back room of the Mos Eisley cantina. Can't remember his name at the moment. But You need to drop imperial pilot first, I can't remember where to do that.

I honestly can't answer that. I've mastered Smuggler Alliance and I'm not ever dropping it to master another pilot profession, butI've helped on almost every other type of mssion at one point. Every faction has its up an downs. I've known people that have mastered imperial to drop it then got neutral, and people who have mastered neutral and dropped to master imperial. But having said that, the Hutt Dunelizard is a wonderful ship...though it may now be obsolite due to the heavy scyk.

Honestly, I think that if you're prepared to put the effort in, imperial pilot squads give you the best learning environment.
The missions aren't easy...most of them aren't super hard, but there are some nasties thrown in there, and we get a hard start with the ship mass. We also get a great cross-section of targets, right from the small, agile Awing to the easy-to-hit Xwing.
I reckon Imp is the best 'teaching' faction. Having said that, we get the best master ship, the Oppressor. And the Decimator's just plain stylish

I suggest that if you're wondering what piloting faction to join, try and get involved in your servers community. For example, on my home server Farstar, there is an organisation called 'Freedomfleet', a Rebel/Neutral group of pilots who help peoples missions, chat, and generally do things together.
I hear Starsider or Sunrunner... one of those two... has a large space population. Start posting in your servers community forum, and see where there is a friendly pilot presence to help you along the road, and to generally have fun with.
Of course, personally I could never leave the X-wing behind

If you want to fly a YT-1300 (The Falcon) you will want to fly neutral.
Smugglers Alliance will get a mission that will have you do some work for Jabba.

the safest squadron is CorSec. They are completely neutral. The smuggler's alliance is rebel friendly, while the RSF is Imp friendly, even though they are all privateer squadrons. If you're on valcyn, check out the channel in my sig for help.

A smuggler? Well..smugglers don't actually do any smuggling.
The smuggler profession requires the unarmed line in brawler, often refered to as brawler 4xxx, and marksman x4xx - the pistols line. Then you 'unlock' the smuggler profession, which in itself, mostly uses pistols xp. I suggest you read the smuggler forums to get a good idea of the state of the smuggler profession.
The Smuggler's Alliance pilot squad has nothing to do with smuggling. As far as I'm aware, it's smuggler in name only. Unfortunatly, I'm not sure where this starts.
