I bought the JTL Beta Installer CD from Gamespot.
Did I just buy just the beta version, and only the beta version? Does my beta purchase count towards the "final" code?
Or do I have to buy the final JTL code when it is released Oct 27th too?
Sorry for the dumb question, but all this beta registration stuff is throwing me in a loop.
thanks,
Z

First did you ask for the pre-order
second did you pay 49.99 or 29.99
finally did they have this just out on a shelf or did you ask for it and give personal information
I will say I pre-ordered JTL and when I got my beta cd from ebgames store it had a price of 49.99 and below the 49.99 said DO NOT USE so I paid nothing for it.
from the little detail you have said so far it looks like beta disk only but they should not be selling that at all.

Im not sure what your saying but JTL itself is $29.99
If the disk was just sitting on the shelf and you bought just the disk... then it may have been some extra ones left over. If it was $29.99 you probly just reserved JTL.

Hi there,
This is how pre-order works:
You either pay a small about of the retail price of the soon to be released game, or pay off the whole amount, so you can be guaranteed a copy at release.
In this case you could pay from $5.00 (minimal GS "reserve" price) or up to $29.99 (full retail price of JTL. NOT $49.99, as some place say they might charge)...
If you paid $5.00, then that goes to the total cost of JTL. And when Oct 27 comes, you go down to your store and pay only $24.99 now, to pick up the game.
As a lil' gift for preordering, Gamespot hopefully gives you the preorder disk today. This has the cd and cd-key to enter into JTL beta...AND get the flash speeder. And remember, this is a freebie gift...
Hope this helps

True except the $5 covers the tax.

it seems that when you pre-order from ebgames.com, which i pre-ordered on the 19th, it says absolutly nothing about the beta on the site. so im assuming like anyother 'pre-order game' i pretty much just payed for it and saved a trip to eb seeing as it is being shipped.

You paid for that game. some companies (EB, Gamespot) have a promotion to let people into beta....which is closed now. You will get the game when it releases. Depending on who you bought it from they should have emailed you telling you that. I ordered from Gamespot and I got an email sent to me saying that I will get the full version on release.
You don't pay for beta.....So to answer your questions....again. You paid for the game, and will get the CD in the mail on release.

ok, its making sense now. thx for replies.
I didn't realize there were so many ways to obtain beta. I thought we all were ordering online from the 2 stores. I paid $29.99 to Gamespot.
So I take it that the code on the back of my beta installer CD is only good for the beta? I entered this code on the SWG website (not through the launchpad).
Both my beta launchpad and the regular launchpad show "JTL not enabled, register expansion". When I enter my beta code in the launchpad, it says "code already in use". I'm still able to access beta, and I also have my flash speeder.
Is this consistant with everyone else? Does your launchpad still show "register expansion"?
When the final CD shows upinfew days, Iassume that will have a new JTL serial code on the CD?
thanks,
Z
