Thread: Am I the only one worrying about the droid programs nerf ?
after the next publish, programs will be "one use" if you're not able to program the chips.
just wondering...

as it stands now, anyone can use any droid program anytime, as far as we have the right chip.

"one use" means once you've loaded the program chipinto the memory center of a computer or astromech, you can't unload it back onto chip. But with programs you know, you don't even need chips anymore.

just think about pvp without engine- and weapon overload :/
but hey... at least we can adjust our shields
Is this the text you are referring to? In that case, I think it might just be another case of SOE bad wording. What it sounds to me is that the chip will be a "one shot thing" when you add the program to the droid (pretty much like it is right now).
All commands you know (from skills) and chips you have (crafted or purchased) are on the left side of the window. All commands IN (active) the droid are on the right side. You can move commands back and forth to program the droid. The volume bar on the right shows how much room you have left. Putting chips in a droid (as opposed to commands you know) destroys the chip when the command is entered. This is so you can get "one-shot" programming of commands you don't know. Each faction gets different commands, so they can trade back and forth.
Yes, that's exactly what I said in my post above. It's the chip that you use to program the droid/computer that is one-shot. For your own faction programs, there's no need to use chips anymore, since you can program your droid directly now.

Whats lame is that you can swap programs from Faction to faction. The only way you should be able to get a program from another faction should be random loot from NPCs...
I don't think it's lame at all, only thing I think should be different is that smugglers should be involved somehow, maybe to slice the encryption on the programs and such...
Without the program swapping, freelancer pilots would be pretty screwed when it comes to droid programs.

Yes you are correct, no need to panic.

If it's anywhere near as powerful as I've heard, I think that energy pulse more than makes up for it - andit can't be traded.
Maybe so, but you slightly missed my point a bit: The only droid command the freelancers/privateers have is to increase reactor output. This command is in itself rather pointless, but gains meaning when you use the imperial droid commands. Without the ability to use these programs, freelancer pilots would not have any use for droids/flightcomputers (whatever it is they use in those rxxxyrryxxyxyxyxyxyzzzyx-ships).
