Thread: PRISONER HOLDING CELL on my ship (turning the humble Sorosuub into a true Bounty Hunter vessel :-)

The PLY-3000 Sorosuub is a beautiful ship and I like it a lot. Unfortunately since I play a Smuggler/Bounty Hunter type it's TOO beautiful! And since I don't qualify for the YT-1300 yet I set out to convert the Sorosuub into something more sinister: a suave, elegant surface concealing a heart of scum and villainy. It had to be somewhat functional also (i.e. the crafting stations). Being that it's only proper that a Bounty Hunter ship would have something to restrain captured "marks" during transit to the proper authorities and reading other players wanting to do the same, I took up the challenge.

Behold... the Holding Cell!

Holding Cell: looking in from corridor

Holding Cell: looking in from another angle inside the corridor

Holding Cell: looking in from yet another angle inside the corridor

Just call him the "Deputy Barney Fife of a galaxy far, far away..."

Holding Cell: inside looking out

Hey, when you gotta go you gotta go

Holding Cell: closeup of Cell Control Panel

The walls are 12 of the standard Bookshelfs - custom-built by other players and renamed "Holding Cell" - turned so that the backsides are facing into the cell. The cell is somewhat smaller than the room's existing space: rather than take away from the ship's 75-item limit that I wanted to use on other things, I angled the walls a bit and it wound up being a pretty neat effect. The cot is a Divan that I bought from a furniture vendor. The bars are Wood Fighting Staffs that I made and renamed "Cell Bars", and made Bone Armor Segments (also renamed "Holding Cell") where the bars meet the ceiling (I've no idea how prisoners can get in or out... maybe the lower-bars slide upward into the top ones? ) Opposite the cot there is a "Small Fresher Wall Unit" which is merely the polite Star Wars way of saying "urinal": just a renamed Mineral Survey Device although I'm going to re-work that 'cuz it's an awfully small thing to ummm... you know. Just as you enter the Holding Cell area there is a Cell Control Panel mounted toward your left: in actuality an Armor Repair Tool renamed to suit the purpose.

All told, 31 separate items went into making the Holding Cell. I've a few more slots yet that I can fill (albeit a VERY few) but here's what I've done to the rest of the ship so far...

Entering Cockpit: the Environmental Control Station (a renamed Structure and Furniture Crafting Tool)

Cockpit: interior view

Cockpit: closeup of Technical Console including the "Stolen Crystal Gravfield Detector" (a renamed Flora Survey Device), a gadget first mentioned in Timothy Zahn's "Thrawn trilogy". Embedded behind the Technical Console (pushed back as far as possible) is an Electronic Key that I looted awhile back and was still holding onto.

Cockpit: looking forward from Technical Console

Forward Lounge: looking toward bow

Forward Lounge: looking into Captain's Private Quarters (Bed and Armoire are visible)

Captain's Private Quarters: interior

Dining Room: looking down spine of ship toward the stern with kitchen/bar in background

Dining Room: kitchen and bar. All I really did was position a Food/Chemical Crafting Station into place. I was trying to make some "clean welds" between the station and the bar when for whatever reason I thought to raise the station a few units off the floor. You can't tell that it's barely floating, and it gives the bar that neat circular decoration: stove or grill or giant moca late' machine, I've no idea but it looks cool

Top Deck: Bounty Hunter and Smuggler Operations, including storage for Probe Droids and a Weapon/General Item Crafting Station in the rear. Trying to put racks for weapons and armor if I can squeeze it within the 75-item limit And would LOVE to put a good simulation of a restroom somewhere onboard too.

Exterior view of my ship, the "Mare Of Steel"

Questions? Comments? Anybody want to ride the "Mare Of Steel"? (oh bruddah if you only knew what that was a reference to )

Pretty cool. What faction are you ? After you get master pilot any multiperson ship will look bad @ss, so I would save this ideas for later. Looks great. But you might want to move that nice divan out of the cell .... its color doesn't fir with prison cell. 5* for effort.

I'm a Privateer (but if I had to choose between Rebels and Imperials, I'd go Empire all the way baby ). So far as the divan goes I'd love to find one that's a different color, but that's the closest thing to a cot that I could find.

Sorosuub is weird and I've no idea how this is on other multiplayer ships, but some walls will let you move items close to them/embed within them, and others won't let you get anywhere close. I had a neat idea for the room between the forward lounge and the dining area... but it wouldn't let me place the items that I needed to install! While one floor up there's items all in the walls around the cockpit.

And if they'd bump the item limit up to just 25 more, players would be turning out some mind-bogglingly amazing works of art. These ships are practically blank slates and the devs are keeping us from getting all thecrayons. I know, the whole lot sizes and all... but multiplayer ships are an entire separate class from standard houses/structures. They deserve some quota bumpage

If you dont mind me saying so, if were talking about the Divan.

I do a ton of creative work display on my server for alot of people, and i try to combine things as well to comply with myself or my guild. So i try to use simplicity as my best creation ideal tool.

In less words, and dont worry about taking my idea, if it works go for it.

Use 3 "Ottomans". place them together and ytou'll have a nice prison looking resting place, if anything, it will remind you of Star Wars: A New Hope, the thing Princess Leia is laying ontop of during her stay in the Detention Center cell.

Let me know what you think

VERY well done! My own Sorosuub is a smuggler's ship...disguised as a private charter ship. Although I have the main salon done, I am still working on the smaller spaces. If it's alright, I may "borrow" some of your ideas as inspiration!

That's a *really* good idea, 'cept then you're using three items as opposed to just one and when you're trying to trick out a ship on 75 items or less, every little bit counts

'Twould make it look more like a prisoner's cell though

Okay, I'm officially in awe: what I did is nothing compared to what riotcontrol did with his ship: not only did he add a holding cell, but he's got the bars tied to a macro that makes 'em slide up and down!!

Slam here for riotcontrol's ubercool working holding cell complete with Padawan braid as an incentive not to escape

I want to master reb pilot for one reason: The Nova courier. At the moment I cant figure out a good way to decorate it because I cant find a pic of its layout, or some pics of its interior. Plus, how do you rename stuff?
