Thread: Vaksai fighter in PvP?

Unable to compare with a JSF or the "red-tie" beeing a rebel freelancer and all I was wondering if the vaksai is any good in PvP?
I have been outmanouverd a couple of times in deep space, but I believe this is because I am currently flying with a crafted engine with quite low YPR. (If I could only get a hold of those pre-nerf ones... any Brians got one for sale?

Anyone that can give me a decent and objective comparison?
I'm strongly concidering getting the JSF by switching.. but this is something that is going to cost me 500-600K or so in getting those -5000fp back.
Luckily I'm freelance corsec squadron so I don't have to re-grind pilot again

Just get the JSF. The Grievous ship has identical stats and is not a bad choice either. As for the Pre-Nerf engines I have two but sorry, not for sale. Just had to be there back in October I guess.

PvP is what the Vaksai was meant for, in my opinion. Whether the pilot who wants to use one can overcome a few minor drawbacks compared to the latest PvP champs, that's up to the pilot. However the Vak has what it takes I think.

I have a Vaksai with an L10 RE'd engine, L10 RE'd gun, reward shield, and I still have room for decent armor and ordinance. I haven't PvPd in it yet because im still getting used to the gun placement.

It has a larger profile than the JSF, but it's not lacking in the speed and maneuverability department. I can do boosting loop the loops inside the forks of a space station at 1533 speed.

Pros-

  • mass means no skimping on parts

  • speed and maneuverabilty

Con-

  • larger profile than the current PvP favorites

  • weapon placement takes getting used to (not as bad as z95, or ARC, but still wide)

PS(edit) my engine beats any Pre-nerf by a mile, and it was made with recently looted parts

Difference between pre and post nerf is only top speed. PYR stats haven't been changed. And as Psiko illustrates, with that much mass you've got to use a L10 engine in it.

Where's your Hoar Chall level 8 reward engine? Use that or a L10 engine if you have one. You could also do the Starmap quest and get that L8 engine. Frequently its top speed is even better than the L8 reward.

You need the high PYR rate of an REd engine to compete in PVP in that beast. I have not been using mine, but I am trying to build a L10 engine for it.

Well, I'm planning on doing the starmap quest one of these days(on second thought.... I'll do it today) to see if it has anything worth using or REing. Sadly I do not have a single REd equipment onboard as far as I know of. I got a decent gun, Great capacitor(though I barely need it with a gun that only drains 14.1). Ok engine for crafting I suppose. PY about 70, R about 60, S about 97 or so. Gets me to 1450 with EO 4. Ofcourse that helps the engine a lot, but JSF still outmaneouver me. Apperently only because of my engine
I have looked high and low for the good engines and several of them so an SW can RE them. I do have the Haor Chall. I might give it a shot. Gonna check specs when I log in again. Hope i didn't sell it :S Maybe if i could get it REd it would have good speed. Not one single vendor in bazaar search on Bria has it for sale last time I checked.
If anyone has a good RE engine I'll pay up... I need it.
I could also do with some Borstel disruptors... The one I got is good. But the mass :S I think it was about 40K or so. Good gun otherwise, though slow refire rate.
I did attempt getting the Belullab once. But someone KDed all the time so the root attacks didn't work... Necrosis owned 3 jedis and 5 ranged... If SOMEONE didnt KD we would have had him... I think he had about.. 200-400 left or something at the lowest.
I am STRONGLY concidering going imp a while if i don't get a hold of a good engine soon.

reverse engineer your borstel to get the refire and mass down.
