While in space hit the "H" key to access the hyperspace routes map. Select your destination and click "Hyperjump" to start the countdown and calculations. Now, if you have a starter sjip, it doesnt have the Hyperdrive by defualt, and a new engine must be used instead...
Hope this helps!

Thank you for the info. And no I do not have a starter ship, got the y-wing. What does the "hyperspace" do? Just makes it a lot faster to go somewhere in a particular "planet area"?
The reason I am asking this is because I have to travel about an ungodly distance and I keep getting killed by powerful NPCs on the way to my mission waypoint.

If you don't have the time to type out /abort, /a works just as well

Starter ships have hyperdrive now. They give you an upgradable prototype ship.

I think they should focus on making this game easier for people to use. Why should we have to enter console commands for stuff like this? There should simply be a Cancel Hyperspace Calculations button inside the Hyperspace menu that pops up when you press 'H'. How hard would that be? Instead we're made to learn obscure and arcane commands. It's a GUI world, folks!
Another example of this is giving a doctor 'consent' to my body if he's not in my group. I had no idea this was even possible until someone told me how to do it in console after they saw my corpse.
/consent
/abort
/bo trans
Every console command should be available by using the GUI.
Just my $0.02

make your own GUI..
CTRL A >macro > new macro
name: consent.. choose an icon..
in the blank type /consent %TT
click ok
drag macro to your hotkey..
viola! GUI..
theres simply far too many commands and GUIs for everything would clutter your screen badly.. to see what I mean, type // in spatial
