Maybe I'm missing something. I'm a rebel pilot that just finished 1/1/1/1 and was sent to some guyat the abandoned rebel base on Dantooine. He basically said that I need to grind xp through duty missions before he'll give me a mission, which is fine with me. My question is if he's the only person in the whole galaxy that'll give me missions? That kinda sucks if he is. The base is 3000m from the nearest shuttleport, so it takes forever to get a mission and return to space. If I die (thanks to the random Tier 4 pirate that drifts into my area), I have to get a new mission all over again, which is a 15 minute process.

Yes, your trainer is the only one who can train you. While it is possible to change squadron to get a new trainer, that will cost you all your skill and xp. So that's not a good idea.

Also, you don't have to do the duty missions to get the required xp. Go to Endor or Lok space, or a good spot for 1111 pilot is the high hutt hyper point for Tat, especially once you reach 1211.

Well that sucks. Is that how it always is, even at master pilot? You can only get missions from a single person?

And thanks, I'll try those places for XP. I always have trouble finding random ships to attack.

Has anybody flown a duty mission to where it ends? Grinding out Tier2 I was able to keep flying duty missions until I got the mission complete and there were no more enemies coming.

If you go to the same level trainers for the other two imperial squadrons, you should be able to draw duty missions from them. (There is a sticky in the pilot profession forum with the trainer locations.) I fly for the neutral corsec squadron, and the tatooine and theed neutral trainers will give me duty missions. You can also draw duty missions from the spacestations (the yavin IV station gives a "I never did like those cultists" missionsthat is tier 2, but you can get 40 space ship parts for RE'ing, or selling, if you are interested)
