Maybe someone can clarify this for me. I have a Firespray. I placed a 89.8 top spd engine on it. When I launch into space my top spd is only 79.4 (794). Is there some sort of spd cap placed on ships where you cant go fast at all? Cause this confuses me when i see Lvl 10 engines that do 103+ top spd.

every ship has a speed modifier. the small ships are 1:1 but the larger ones have their speed reduced a bit. If you put that same engine in an awing you would go faster

Every chassis has different stats. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it's just a percentage type thing. If you put that same engine in the tie interceptor it would got a whole lot faster. If you put it in the bomber, it would go a lot slower. They also differ in the turning and acceleration and deceleration. The firespray doesn't have the best speed, but it turns really well. Also put two weapons in the same group and pull the trigger and watch how fast it shoots. I think they changed something with that. I love it.

If I had one wish, it's that laser convergance would get fixed on the Firespray, B-wing and (I forget offhand what other ship has the problem).
Firespray is a good, solid ship except for that

The speed cap on the KSE is 90% of the engine speed expressed in non-decimals.
For example, my 103.8 engine runs as (1038X0.9=934)
If I remember correctly, the Awing is 100%, the Ywing is 85%, and I don't remember the Xwing but I suspect that it's 90%.

Check the FAQ on the Pilot boards. It has the speed modifiers for all ships on it. And the X-wing is 95% with the foils closed, 90% open.

Couldn't agree more. I can't count the number of times one of those stupid droid fighters get hit by one set of blasters while being left unscathed by the other. Well, at least it's not as bad as the B-Wing. You can get all 4 blaster bolts to hit a gunship assuming you're attacking from the top or bottom... LOL!

Like others said, there are modifiers, but I think they should be a bit more extreem. Right now my Bwing (240k mass) is only a few hundred slower then my Xwing. It should be slower then that IMO.

Cmon don't totally kill off the bwing, that thing handles like a fat lady, drunk and on crack, on rollerskates.

yeah, thats why it needs to slow down but increase its maneverabilty. A slow target is easy to hit, but a maneverable target can hit his enemies.
