Thread: Well, JTL is ruined for me

Great Game,
too bad once again you mess things up. Example: Rebel tier 2 mission coming out of the abandoned rebel base on dantooine
1) We have to drive 2-5k just to get our missions on an agro planet like dantooine.
That is bad, but don't you have a speeder to make aggro a non-factor? Besides, other pilots have it worse, try having to go inside Jabba's Palace to get each mission.
2) Being 1-1-1-1 pilot, how are you expected to constantly be ambushed by tier 3 and tier 4 fighters?
Watch your radar and don't fly so close. You wouldn't run through a pack of Greater Shauputs as a Novice Marksman would you? Same thing holds here.
If your mission waypoints are right next to spawns that are that high level, /bug it...they aren't supposed to go through areas that are that dangerous.
3) At this level rebels get a y-wing that's so horribly slow even with the best equipment that you might has well be grounded
The Y-Wing is a very good ship. You just need to learn how to fly it effectively. Cut your throttle to about 50% on turns and you can keep up with TIEs pretty well. Also, get a gunner if you can, they make you much more powerful.
4) why do the imperials get all the 'breaks' - example trainers located on bases that you can land on (after all, even the rebels have
to land somewhere), then the imperials get duty areas like outside talus at tier 2 that are lower level.
My point is, we can't always group: Not everyone and their mother accepts new group members to do lower level missions.. nor
is there always someone on to group with. If the imperials don't have to do it, why should the rebels..this blatent sign of
discrimination is just one more nail in the SWG coffin (bad part is, that I was really beginning to enjoy JTL, too bad the dev's don't
have the same goals)
Umm...Imps actually have it quite a bit harder than Rebels do. Their ships have nowhere near the Mass ours do, so they aren't as heavily armed or armored. Yes they are a lot faster, but the NPC AI doesn't seem to miss much, so they can't dodge enemy fire very well and are outgunned on almost all of their missions. Do a forum check on "Storm Squadron" and tell me Imps have it easier than Rebels do. Oh, and all of my Rebel Trainers have been in Cities with starports. Every one of them. If through Dant is such a big issue to you, start over in Crimson Phoenix (starts in Mos Espa). 1.1.1.1 doesn't take all that long to get, and you won't have the travel time. That or just suck it up soldier.
note: I don't care if it can be done, I don't really care to hear from the 'uber power gamers' that can solo everything. for
us casual players, it's nearly impossible and we spend more time sitting at the station repairing than actually flying.
Way to go devs.....
I don't expect you to reply to this, I don't expect you to change it... Shoot, I don't even expect you to consider it..
Maybe it's just the end for SWG and me..... It really sucks too because I was just beginning to like it again

You need to drop the defeatest attitude and practice some more. Adjust your tactics. If you keep doing a mission the same way and you keep dying...try a different approach. Grab some wingmates if you can. Use all of your skills (IFF alone is a mission saver, and the Droid skills are very powerful, especially against TIEs). I soloed all the way up to 4.3.3.3. It was hard as heck, but I did it by altering tactics and using what I had available...and most importantly through practice.
/rantoffKeep at it and you will be fine, JTL has a pretty steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, the game is pretty easy, and very fun.

Are you high, or dumb? Imagine doing all those missions with ships that have like half the mass of yours and can only mount 1 weapon, then come back and talk about you're gimped, yeesh.

ya nice buzz. only one problem....YOU CANT BEAT THEM IF YOU NEVER AND I REPEAT NEVER GET TO EVEN GET A SHOT OFF. having a fire power edge i can understand. and i understand the thing with there droid commands allowing them to have harder hitting weapons. but RANGE there aintanything that says anything about range. and to have a range that is 300m (for main cannons) than you opponent has for his long range missiles is comeplete bull. i have a well shielded well armored x-wing with great missles and to be blown up with one shot before i can even start tracking him with missiles is ludicris. there is no fun in playing if one imp can destroy 16 rebels flying x-wings without adleast takeing a couple hits. thats not having a slight edge. thats having a deathstar packed into a tie fighter. and makes the game not worth playing.
JTL is about dogfighting, SW space flight is based on WWII dogfighting, not modern fire and forget missiles used from miles away... Missiles are a bonus, but you still need to get in close...
On another note how did he take out 16 of you without any of you getting in range? X-wings aren't that slow... Did you try to surround him to prevent him doing hit and run out of range? Your guns have the same range his do, if you had all saturated the area he was flying in with blaster fire someone would have clipped him. You only needed to get lucky once or twice, he needed to do it 16 times.
Oh and maybe he is a better pilot than your crew? better at dodging fire, targeting etc? After all this game is twitch based.
The reward gun won't last forever and you can get hold of Imperial Droid commands, I am sure you will find Imp pilots willing to sell droid command chips to neutrals, and so find your self a neutral "fence" to supply you with Imperial Droid Command chips.
