You get free boxes at tier 1 and at tier 3 for completing missions. The Entire tier 3 was free!

Ive only been on beta testing 3 weeks or so, and 1 week i was away on holiday and didnt play, but heres my thoughts from what ive done so far.

Space flight.

Havent really sussed out the radar yet, hard to tell where the enemy is in a sphere around you, i end up look around madly.

The controls are ok though.

The radar was simple, the bigger the box is the closer the enemy is too you, then also look at it as north east south and west to find out which way to turn too see the ship, if that doesnt help just use the taget command to target the enemy ship and follow the direction of the blue arrow (blue arrow helps a ton)

Space combat.

Because of my problems with knowing where the enemy is ive found this hard. The enemy seems to be much more manouverable than me.

(As i said, use the targeting blue arrow to find them, then to keep manuvering as fast as them, u have to turn as good as them, lower speed to half then turn, then speed up again if u want.)

Experience.

This is my biggest moan. It takes forever to get XP. Also .. in my opinion XP for pilot should not be just about killing enemies, thats just a small part of it.

Ive done a couple of missions and killed a few bad guys, but ive got like 10% of the xp to get my first skill.

Thats too slow.

You should get Pilot XP for any kind of space manouver, from using space ports, taking of and landing, navigation, completing any kind of space mission, combat too of course, using hyperspace etc etc. And enough XP to get your first skill level after 2 or 3 missions, i in a similar way to say ... a weapons skill.

Pilot Exp is fine, if you got exp for simply landing, people would do it all day. i got too privateer 1-2-2-1 in 2 days of course were all shipwrights and pilots so its easier but the devs dont want eveyone master in 4 days like other professions currently are able too. "And enough XP to get your first skill level after 2 or 3 missions, i in a similar way to say ... a weapons skill." letting us have a skill in 2-3 kills ruins it becasue we dont get to enjoy the game, what ur saying is you want to grind up pilot right away in a day or two.

What kind of game is SWG now?

Pre-CU:
Master Artisan, Master Shipwright, Master Merchant, Pistoleer 0020:
Favourite Weapon: FW-G5, Happy
After CU:
Much the same, but CL 54, Favourite Weapon FW-G5, Still happy
After NGE Game Downgrade:
Trader (Structures), same skills as every other trader in same specialty, CL2, can only use a CDEF, and no armor, NOT Happy -> Cancelled Account

Thats funny.

I have never ground a profession. Dont believe in it. I've never even used a macro for crafting.

I once tried tobe a Droid Engineer. After 1 month of churining out mouse droids i had one skill level. I got bored with it and dropped it.

And I once slowly tried to get holo professions .. took me 2 months to get master scout. 4 months trying to get master swordsman, and i gave up cos i ran out of timewhen patch 10 came out. :-)

And i agree the higher level skills should take longer .. i just reckon low level skills should be relatively easy.

And XP for take off and landing wouldnt need to be large amounts .. small enough id say that grinding wouldntbe worth itcos combat or missions would give much much more xp.

I certainly wouldnt want to encourage grinders. I just reckon it shouldnt be ALL about combat.

For example a merchant (like me) doesnt even want to face space piratesor other bad guys... he or she wants to avoid damagingthe shipand cargo and make it as fast as possible to the next planet, and should get XP for doing exaclty that. The merchant intergalactic trader has contracts to full and tight timeframes and profit margins. Only fighting when there is no other option.

Let such a pilot get xp just for flying well. Thats all.
