Thread: Docking problem

Have been unable to dock with other ships. One of the tier 2 imp missions is to hunt down the Nym Lt. and inspect his ship for information and then dock with him to retrieve it. I fight with him and disable his ship to where he is sitting dead in space. I inspect his ship and it says that he is carrying the information I need. It says use the /dock command to retrieve it, but when I do this is says that the ship denies my request to dock. Am I not doing something right or is this a bug? Thanks in advance.

Make sure you are very close to the ship and that you have it targetted. I think you need to be within 150m to dock.

I'm having exactly the same problem, i am within 150 metres, have disabled the Nym's ship, and inspected it first (about 100 times). Someone pls either help or acknowledge thatthis is a bug before i trash my pc .

thnx.

Having similar problem, when I disable the ship 1 of 2 things happens, I'm not permitted to dock, or the docking is allowed and it says I have retrieved the item, but the quest does not update, so when I leave the system mission fails

Some missions, and I'm thinking specifically Storm Squadron, say to dock when you don't really need to. Move in close to the disabled vessel and just sit a bit, like you would for a capture style mission, and it will update the mission.

Ok i think ive solved this problem, for me the problem was i wasnttargeting the engine to disable the ship by using the target subsystems command ([ or] by default). Once i didthen i was able to dock. With regards to docking and the quest not being complete, although it says the ship has the information u need, if it doesnt say mission complete immediately then keep hunting the lieutenants untill it does. And hopefully that solves it for all.

Like Vaun experienced (and this is a problem many newer pilots see), disabling a ship requires you to target it's engine or reactor (by selecting subsystems) and taking that out, you will get a message onscreen that the ship is disabled.
Just shooting a ship until it stops moving is NOT the same as disabling it.
