Since there is no real objective to PVP in space other than bragging rights at this time, wouldn't it be cool if players could fight to control those factional space stations in the various space sectors?
it would be the base raiding of space!
heres 2 ideas for it:
Players could attack the enemy space station during a certain time period (like base times), they would have to destroy weapons and sheilds to gain access to dock with it, once docked they have do a series of puzzles to gain access to security systems. once you do all this, there would be a timer until the station was changed sides.
Another idea I think it would be a cool idea for players to accually board the space station and fight their way in to a control room or somthing, and then have to hold that room for an alloted ammount of time (10 mins) and if they accomplish that, then the space station is taken and now belongs to their faction.
The first idea involves only space fighting, so people who are not Uber-L33T PVPers on the ground would have a fighting chance, while the second idea gives more to the land lubbers who excell in ground PVP.
Please post any thoughts about this!!!!

I too was thinking of this the other day. There's a lot more potential in space than what's there right now. I think what we have now is just the ground-work and a lot more will be put into it in the months to come.
Player-run factional space bases. Same-faction could use them to dock and repair, perhaps even dock with it and hangout in ground-based mode ala a multiplayer ship, also man the turrets, make repairs and put in maintenance, pay credits for NPC fighter escort, etc. Attacking a facton space base would be lots of fun.
After the space defenses were crippled, the team of attackers boards the vessel and activates a shutdown sequence akin to surface-based faction bases?
Perhaps the base that only needs to be attacked from space could be a lower-lvel base. One requiring players to board and take it over would be a much higher level base.
Btw, a little food-for-thought, if they do that, another kind of faction base has to be a capital ship. Capable of being piloted by anyone who's given access to it so they're mobile. Again, players could also operate it like any multiplayer ship and provide escort, setting the stage for massive battles between capital ships! Daydream about that one for a moment and start drooling.

allspacePVPneeds is some little tiny game like this to explode. devs, Tiggs, TH, if you happen to read this you need to look at the content other MMO's offer in terms of PVP. SWG desperately needs something like that, a contested area for players to fight over AND something that can be 'won'.
destroying the ISD is not enough. destroying the rebel base is not enough. neither of those goals promote PVP. both could be easily suited for good PVP content, they just need to give players a reason to attack, and opposing players reason to defend. it's up to you ultimately to decide the mechanics of this, but it does not need to be complex. it's quite clear that we will play for peanuts, we are just asking for a little salt.
