Hey gang,

Like many others, I've experienced the intermittent enemies warping, aka the drunken bee, bug. Until now I've been unable to track down exactly why this happens or what was causing it. The only common thread seemed to be that in most cases the people experiencing this problem had an AMD processor.

Until this weekend this problem would happen for me at least once a day. There was never a way to make it go away other then to just do something in the ground game and hope it went away the next time I tried to go in to space.

I got to thinking and came up with what I think is progress. This Friday night and went in and looked at the Windows Services running on my computer. This is something I'd been meaning to do for a long while. Back in my DAoC days, there used to be a published document in their knowledge base on which services you can safely shut down to improve system performance and still function correctly. Windows "out of the box" typically has all sorts of needless services running.

I went in and shut down and disabled some of the extras that I didn't need. Basically had Windows running services that were only must haves. The result was that I was able to play JTL without once instance of the drunken bee for the entire weekend. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Anyway just wanted to share. If anyone else plans to do this please let me know if it works for you. Also as a warning, please be careful when starting and stopping services. It's VERY easy to disable something that is vital to your system (such as a set of services that let you connect to the internet) so BE CAREFUL.

What services can we shutdown in windows then to perhaps help JTL work alittle better?

Honestly? It really depends on your own system configuration and the things you do. For instance, I had a service running that allowed computer browsing in the Network Neighborhood. I knew on my home system I had no need for that so I disabled it. I also had a service running to support digital video cameras. I don't need that, so it's disabled.

As I said before, you need to be really careful cause you could break something. I'll do some digging around for you. If I come up with anything good, I'll be sure to post it here.
