At Master their should be a selection of ships that every type of pilot can use. Please don't make the quest based or something stupid
like that as the quests in the game are often next to impossible. Just give us more ships and give the shipwrights the schematics.
I must admit I was a little disappointed when I saw each class had 1 Multiperson ship. I was expecting 3 or 4 Multiperson ships for each
and several ships per lvl.

Being able to attack anyone of any faction except for your own squadron...
...but yeah...Privateers need to keep their ships.
BUT! I believe there should be some generic ships that all skill trees can pilot, freighters, transports, and perhaps a heavy weapons platform (dreadnaught or so)

Why bother? All three MP ships are identical anyhow, it's just a matter of what model and graphics are used.

There should be some ships that members of all three factions should be able to pilot. I was deeply disappointed when I found out I couldn't pilot the YT-1300 as a Rebel pilot. (Wasn't Han Solo a "commander" in the Rebel Alliance at some point?) Add to that list maybe Z-95s and Y-wings. There are other ships perhaps.
The Firespray? Hmm, I don't know. We could talk about that, but it's not a deal-breaker.
At the same time, there should be some ships that only Rebels and Imps can pilot and certain factional perks/abilities that only they get. That's part of the reward and punishment system of joining a faction. We should encourage participation in the GCW, not punish people by taking away a coveted, iconical ship like the YT-1300.
Should we encourage privateers? A little, maybe. I think they have a huge advantage by dint of notimmediately drawing fire from Imps or Reb NPCs. Reb and Imp players must face factional NPCs as well as pirates (although I thought my+5000 Valarian standing would protect me in space. Ha!)
Just some thoughts.

I think it would be cool if pilot skills were not tied to specific ships or factions. I guess for certain advanced starfighters, you would need to get "certed", but for everything else, you should just need basic piloting skills. In the movies, it seems that everyone knows how to pilot ships except the droids. You could make the skills you learn tied to specific ships or class of ships.. likestarfighter certifications 1-4,freighter certifications 1-4, etc. This would lead to more "ship specialists". It makes no sense that I can be a master pilot for the rebels, then have to start from the bottom if I switch sides. Are these ships so completely different that I wouldn't have a clue?
On a side note, I think I read somewhere that Han used to be an Imperial pilot? Can anyone confirm that?
Also, rebel and imperial ships should be tied to the GCW factional standing.. either by rank, or by turning in faction points for your chassis and stock components. Did Luke have to go out and buy his own X-Wing? If I put my life on the line.. the least they could do is provide me with a decent ship!

I like the 3 faction Idea, gives the game a little more depth in my eyes. The way the JTL classes are set up are good in my eyes.

Imperials as well as Rebels should be able to pilot Privateer ships. Dosen't mean you've left your faction but if you're a master pilot you should have access to these ships, why not? I don't think you'd have to be a master pilot but if they did like this it'd be ok also.

I disagree, but I DO know where you are going with this. The "neutral" ships are designs specificly owned by the sindicates that the Freelancers work for. Taking away their exclusive ships would be the final blow to their already piss-poor selection options.
That being said, I think there ought to be ALTERNATIVES to the normal ships. There should be one ship that every pilot class earns at each Tier (or every two Tiers maybe) that is a common use ship, and perhaps 3 or 4 others that everyone can fly at Master, similar to how the Firespray is set up. You can even make them rare or difficult to assemble ships, like the Firespray. But a little variety would go a LONG WAY, I must agree.

Then Privateers should get access to both Rebel and Imperial ships.
No?
