I know customization is going to be vast... but what are some of the parts and upgrades youve seen in screen shots

New engines for the X wing, new wings for the Hutt fighters, diffrent colored Ships, and who knows what else. Its likely we have seen some upgraded ships and dont even know it.

I have learned a bit about flying and what not already, but I am just curious about how we can customize our ships. Is there a paint kit or something? Any info would be great. Probably not much to it, but I figured I would ask while I am sitting here at work.

There is a paint kit, and 6 texture kits. Paint kits allow you to color the ship pretty much exactly like you color land vehicles. Use the paint kit, select which ship you want to paint from the list, and then 2 new dialogs come up (one for primary color, one for secondary color). Then just hit ok and your ship should now be painted the next time you launch into space. To use a texture kit simply choose which texture you want to apply by picking a specific kit, each texture kit has its' own predefined texture that you can put on your ship. It works just like the paint where you use the kit, select which ship you want to texture, and then hit ok.
If you want to see what your ship will look like before you launch into space, just open up your datapad, select the data tab, and then double click on the ship you want to see. That brings up the view components screen which is exactly like the screen you can get at the starport terminal. A 3D representation of your ship is at the bottom of the screen and shows exactly what it will look like in space.
Keep in mind that you cannot visually alter Imperial ships in any way.

There are paint kits and texture kits you can get from a Shipwright. The Texture Kits change the design on your ship (there are 6 different one). The paint kit changes the primary and seconday colors (like speeders). An example, on my Y wing, I put style 6 texture and blue and white paint so now my Y wing has a flame design with white flames and blue body.
FYI the Yacht can be painted and textured as well.
