Thread: its like I'm back in beta... again.

Trying to play the game today was extremely frustrating, as it seems the AI has reverted back to the"fly around in circles" method of combat making it impossible to kill more difficult tiers since they are INVULNERABLE AGAIN on the top and bottom. With a newbie neutral I get into a fight, can't kill tier 2's and 3's because they just fly around in circles and don't fight, and then get killed when I try to make a run for it since it's impossible to kill something that keeps its top to you and has invulnerable shields. Am I really paying for this? Seriously uncool guys.

I have the same problem with enemies flying in circles. Especially with me Y-Wing, I can't keep up with TIEs. They'll go in circles, and I can't go fast enough to get close enough to fire at them. But they're fast enough to get behind me and blow me away. I don't stand a chance out there, even with good engines, because the Y-Wing is naturally a slow ship... but it makes missions impossible when the TIEs fly around me in circles, and I can't turn into them to fire.

i can get around hte flying in circles thing: (for me they fly in circles to do head to headon me...) so when they come at me at a distance of around 15-20m, i chop thrust to 0 and pause 1.5-2 seconds and then immediately bring it back to full; most times they'll still be trying to circle me; but because my position is changed, they tend to circle at a much larger arc which makes hitting them easier.


but i am annoyed at the invuln top bottom thing. that's just dumb... i thought it was just me but i distinctly remember wasting them all many times before the other night and now this is just crazy as it takes my tier 1 a whole 15 minutes to kill a swarm of 4tier 3s whereas before i'd end it in 5...

Thank god I got into beta.

That made me think twice about running out and purchasing the expansion-

Which I haven't done yet, and I probably won't do for quite some time.

Flying in circles just got lame and boring REALLY fast. You can sit there

flying in circle for hours until you die or your joystick snaps....again, and again, and again.....

Aim ahead of your adv. green reticles. The green reticle aims at the top of the ship so if you aim ahead of it them you basically force the enemy to run INTO your fire instead of hitting their top.

I actually never got past the starter ship in beta.

Do the missions get more interesting/fun and complex?

Or are the missions justmore fastpaced/more enemies?

Well I have the ywing longprob atm, and I disagree, they are not invunrable, on the top and bottom, I think you are just missing.It seems that what is called a defecetion shot, which is a shot from any where except front or back, has a much smaller pixle area that is called the hit box. This is as it should be. I have noticed that because of the y's slow speed, the ties do tend to circle around trying to get behind ya, I can control my speed and keep my lead target reticul on the ties, but I did notice that it is not that accurate(again talking about shooting form the side, top or bottom), if i keep my sites on the lead target thingie, i miss, especally on a deflection shot. When i back off (closer to the tie itself)from exact centered for the lead target thingie, and keep it in that general area I have no problems hitting the target. I am not sure about this but it seems that the different types of lasers, i think it may havesomething to dowith their fireing rate, have a different lead target thingie area, and it is never centered on the retical. Oh one more thing if you are trying to take out a lvl 3 ship with a lvl 1 blaster, well it will seem like they are invunrable, cause their shield will recharge faster than the amount of damage can accumlate. I was in beta also and havn't really had a problem with launch, well other than the fact that I can't find any equipment at the lvl I can use, seem's all the shipwrites are saveing sutff for themself's and their friends. Space ships are vinlarble on the top i killed planty of A's and Z's with top shots today. And dont expect to do well against tier 2 and 3 ships with the noob craft. wth do u espect craft to do, fly in a stright line?



dont get in a truning fight with faster craft.
