Thread: Droid command speed??

I just made a Mark III Droid Interface, and I made the subcomponent Droid Brain Upgrade (Mark III as well).

What really confused me was the subcomponent started at 2.8 droid speed, and experimented DOWNWARDS (2.7 > 2.6 > 2.5 etc). Same with the final product. My question is, is droid speed supposed to be high or low? Either way, making the subcomponent screws you because if it's supposed to be HIGH, why does it experiment DOWN and if it's supposed to be LOW why does it start at a POSITIVE number??????

well, if the expermentation went down, it will probably be the same as wepon speed, the speed is more of a delay factor.

But if the subcomponent is supposed to make it faster, why would it wind up being a positive number? Might as well just not make the subcomponent at all.

I just bugged it. A looted level 1 droid interface has about 15 speed, while a looted level 6 has about 35.I made the energy saving subcomponent, speed was a negative number as was energy usage. Speed experimented farther negative (making it even slower) and energy experimented lower (making it take less energy). In all droid interface subcomponents and final crafts, droid speed experiments backwards, making it slower and slower.

The underlying problem is that the devs have chosen two definitions of 'rate' which is very confusing:

1) Rate as applied to recharge (ie shields, capacitors) are larger because it describes the amount restored per tick.

2). Rate as applied to timing (ie refire rate of weapons, missles etc.) are should be smaller because it refers to a time interval.

So it seems the devs have applied rate definition #1 to droids which should be rate definition #2. I saw this in beta as well, and unlike the other errors of this nature that we caught, this one seems to have slipped by. Unless of course the devs have a THIRD definition of rate that droids represent.

I'm pretty sure lower droid "speed" numbers are better. Which doesn't really make sense, since you get higher speed numbers at higher levels. Right now the best droid interface in the game is the looted speed15 lv1 droid interfaces.
