Is Pilot or space combat performance impacted at all by HAM & Battle Fatigue in JTL? If not... Why such a huge HAM wound hit when you die in Space?

Your performance is not effected by your BF or HAM costs. Everything outside of the response time of droid commands is twitch based. Droid command time is based on the level of your interface. You could be flying with 1/1/1 and 1000 BF and it'd still be the same as if you were perfectly healthy.

While is does not impact your space performance, this is not a space game, it is an integrated space and ground game. thus damage you take when your ship blows up could impact your ground game and this is a reasonable expectation. If you never plan to stay on the ground then the wounds and BF are not an issue. If you do play both, you need to be careful.
