Bought SWG, played it for a while, quit, bought "The Total Experience", digging it, confused.....

I have been flying the first few Privateer missions and have hit a point where I am not fully understanding how the how space combat thing is working on JTLS. I had a few questions I was wondering if you all could help answer. Here goes:

1. No matter what droid I try to load onto my ship I get a message telling me it is the wrong kind. I bought what I thought was a combat computer, but when I loaded it, it turned red and didn't show up in the "loaded" box. Any reccomendations for a good droid and where I might find such a droid?

2. I've already received training from the NPC. I have all the first tier skills learned. I've bought a new ship and upgraded it as much as I can given my skill level. OK, so there's a mission where I go out and basically just kill Black Sun pirates. I keep getting disabled, and I have to "Eject" ...everytime. It looks as if the enemy ships are targeting my reactor. So, can a droid help with this? Also, is there a better way to protect my reactor so this doesn't keep happening?

3. From point number 2 above, most often I am "disabled" by being hit by a missile. I have counter measures loaded up, but for the life of me I can't figure out what good they are because a.) I can't figure out how to launch them, and/or b.) do they launch by themselves, and if so, why aren't they?

4. Do all ships have light speed? Can they all jump to HS? If so, how?

The reason I ask all these questions is that in buying the "Total Experience", the accompanying manual is basically useless. When I bought SWG way back it came with a thich, but small manual. I thought when I bouth this new one, the manual would be three times bigger (SWG plus two expansion packs), but it was actually just a tiny little pamplet. And the holocron appears to be useless as well.

Thanks!

I'll try to answer.

1)Ships take either a flight computer or a droid. If one ship takes a droid it won't take a flight computer and vice-versa. Make sure you have the right level computer or droid and a droid interface installed on your ship. Also, remember that you have to load your droid/comp with commands.

2)If you are sure you have your ship equipped in a satisfactory manner (make sure you have the bestequipment you can fit/find) then all you need is a few pointers on flight technique. Check the threads stickied at the top. There are some excellent ones that should help you develop as a pilot.

3)I've never used countermeasures. For some reason that escapes me I don't seem to get hit with missiles very often.

4)All player-made and reward ships are capable of hyperspace jumps AFIK.

Reading the Pilot FAQ is highly recommended.

BTW, the threads I made reference to are stickied on the pilot forums. Not in this one.

Hi everyone- another "noob" to SWG here with space questions.

Played a bit on the ground and finally stumbled into a pilot trainer. Thought I'd have a go as I really really really used to love playing "Xwing vs Tie Fighter" about 10 years ago. My first mission as a privateer - WOW... man I can't believe how nice it looks "up there"!

Got through the first part just fine. Went back and talked to the pilot trainer and then hopped back up to space for the 2nd mission. ... got my rear end smashed up pretty good and finally died. Doh! I did some quick repairs at the space station but because I was low on funds I wasn't able to get it all. Went down to the planet and now I can't launch because my engine is at 0%... yet I don't seem to have the repair kit for it.

Where can I purchase the repair kits to repair my little starter fighter?
