Thread: Many enemies = much fun?

While completing Tier 4 with a friend of mine he figured out that any of us actually shot as many Ties as 2-and-a-half Superstardestroyer carries. And he said as far he knows there are about 12 of them in the sw eu ...
Ive to say that we're doing rebell pilots with our twinks (second accounts), our main toons are already imperial ace pilots (stormsquad). So it may count in a bit - but we came to the conclussion that the facts are just ridicilious and and at least its just pretty boring to shoot one Tie after another. Except the Aggressor who is a bit more difficult to handle, all the enemies are just clay pigeons, even ten of them.

Okay, this is more a general question than a suggestion to change the whole game system, which I dont believe that it will happen.
Is that really what you want? Many cheap targets who makes you feel like Wedge for a second? What about less but way harder enemies (who give you much more xp of course). I nearly dont fear anything in space, its not just like beeing a pretty good pilot its like beeing just the uber god. Tier 4/5-Enemies are called "Ace Pilots" by the Trainer-NPCs - so what I am when I just shoot them like nothing? ...

Keep the tiers - this is not about to make it impossible for newbies to become an ace pilot. Newbies will face tier 1 enemies but also less of them and more challanging ones.
After all I think it would be much more fun if you actually fear three standard ties (which match your own tier) if you are alone, because this will be a tough fight. Enemies who will use group tactics and who engage you much more. This would be much more fun, immersive an personal than shooting billions of clay pigeons. (Ties are an example, same for NPC Rebells and so on).

Im not talking about a superintelligent AI - it would already help if you just increase the damage output from the NPCs and their aggressivness. Make them wanting to destroy you at all costs.
Im also not talking about PvP - but about a more immersive and dangerous PvE enviroment. And yes, this sounds pretty similiar to the discussions about the ground game.

Okay...maybe it's not that simple (completely ignoring the other hundreds of companies that have no problem turning out functional and enjoyable games). YOu've brought up one of the many points in this game that need to be addressed. I would very much like to see PvE difficulty increased, at least in certain situations, and put a serious damper on PvP damage. The only really challenging PvE situations I've been in have been in have been in Deep Space, getting swarmed by 15 or so B-Wings/A-Wings at once, and having to fight them all off alone. Or that time I accidentally drifted ABOVE the gunboats I was trailing and drilling...

Have you tried Deep Space or Kessel, I hearthat gunships, corvettes, and stardestroyerscan be found there. They are considerably tougher then any other NPC and give very good experince.


But I do feel there is a lack of content for high tier pilots, and it would be nice to have a good battle without going to just deep space or kessel, maybe every sector should have its own high tier poi, with advanced tier 5's and gunships for people to gun down.

you can solo a gunboat tier5 esier then any tier5 fighter it only takes a little bit longer all you need its a good capasitor a few lasers and prefered a booster if the boat should turn sides quicker then you expected.. its not hard to do this even without being hit..


also a gunship gives 25k xp 250 fp and 1000 credits and almost every kill is a nice loot

I would like to see some nice high tierships roaming around all sectors, or something along that line, but if one gunship is to easy I'm pretty sure I've seen corvettes with fighter and gunship escorts, I'm sure soloing something like that could give you the challange your looking for, least til the devs add a little more content. Personaly I would like the combat revamp and GCW patches to come out before they start anything in space.

the best way is to just increse speed and fly an U turn to start all over again.. first taking the engine out so they cant turn on you..
