I ran into an intresting thing tonight, and well, i gotta admit, the guy who did it pissed me off.

Apparently theres this old command (which ive now edited out) still ingame. I havent been able to get it to work myself, but what it supposivly does is luanch a purple missle that does no damage. I read about it on old post on the forums but really didn't think it still be in game.

Well, i ran into one particualar jerk tonight that made it his lifes goal to follow me around for about 5 mins or so and spam me with these missles. But it wasnt just a missle here or there, it was like he had it on his function keys and was mashing the button down as fast as he could press it.

The amount of missles that were coming at me were so numberous, that by the very impact, my screen was completely white for a very long time. My ship shook to the point where i could not maneuver against anything with any accuracy, let alone see what i was trying to shoot at because i was in effect, blind. There was no delay in the missle hits, and i know for a fact a B wing (what this guy was flying) cannot hold no where near the amount of missles he shot. So it must have been that command which lets you shoot these fake missles.

This particular fellow seemed to think this is part of the game. I do not, i think its abuse. What do you think? More importantly what does sony think? I think this is a bug that needs to be fixed next publish. I also think i should have reported him for harrasment like i really wanted to. But, that wouldnt really solve anything. Removing/fixing this abusive command however, might solve something.

That being said, PLEASE edit this out and let it die before we get CS griefer-size abuse of this?

I'm reporting this thread not because I don't like it, but simply because I don't want the kiddies finding it and deciding to bug everyone and their damn brother later. Because I guarantee, I'm not going to be the only one who says "so THAT'S how this is done."

The difference is I'm not going to do it. Others will, so your thread is self-defeating, destined to make the problem WORSE through awareness.

Your absolutly right. However this is not a big secret. I would like to say that if a dev or mod were to look at this thread for deletion that they highly consider removeing that command from the available player command list. As it serves no real purpose to a player other than for sheer negative impact it can have on others, this request should be looked into with the utmost care. If the devs find some need to leave the command in then perhaps putting a timer of somesort to prevent such occurances from repeating themselfes. I'm glad that we have been able to keep this thread civil in our responses and dialogue.

It sounds like some kind of left over debug command. Like something to test if missiles fired properly but usually all debug commands are removed. It might also be a malfuntioning command. It should launch a real missile but instead it fires a dummy missle. Either way it needs removed.

P.S. I think instead of deleteing this thread the mods just delete or edit the post that has the detailed info in it. People have a right to know its abuse but not how to cause abuse.

I know that some people overuse this but I love this command. Ever stopped in the middle of nowhere and targeted yourself then just spammed missles at yourself? Best thing I've ever seen, they don't hit you just make a huge web. But yeah maybe make it so that you can only fire on yourself fast like that, on other npc ships fast (like to see them speaking but not attacking ), and on other people slow.

Your absolutley right, and ive edited out the command. I posted this late last night, half buzzed on captain morgan, and half ticked off, and didnt quite think things all the way through.

Call me crazy, but isn't any use of a bugged/debug commandtechnically overuse?

I mean... It's not like this is a feature that we are supposed to be using to enhance our gameplay. It's something that shouldn't even be there at all. So how can any use of it be acceptable?

Well I love the little web effect. Me and my friends use the command just to entertain ourselves sometimes. I guess I'm comming from a different angle. I never shoot more than 2 at other people and only do that rarely. Don't know I just like the command heh.

Ducimus, you're n Bria, right... the jerk's name wasn't Pancakes was it? he does that all the dang time at my favorite spawn point to try to make people lag out and/or just leave.

Nope not pancakes. havent seen that guy yet.

I wrote the offenders name down on my *hit list that i keep in my ingame notepad so i woudlnt have to remember it by memory. But i know for a fact it wasn't pancakes. I do remember he was in the "Freedom Respect Courage" PA though. Personnaly i found it all too disrespectful and abusing the game like this is anything but couragous.
