Thread: Loot Drops Missions vs. Random

I get the impression that some developer was sitting in a caffiene induced haze murmuring 'All Your Loot Are Belong To Us' when he was working on the patch a few weeks ago that killed random loot drops.

What gives with the craptastic random loot drops? Off space station missions I'm averaging 1/5 but in Kessel/Dathomir it's over 1/10. My sample size for the 1/5 (20%) was doing the Dantooine pirate mission at least 20x and the 1/10 (10%) was for 100's of kills on T4/T5 in Dathomir and T5's in Kessel. In addition there's nothing more entertaining than killing a T5 Aggressor and getting a Cert 2 15.4/555 Unknown Model Gimp Capacitor. Retune the loot so that there's a decent drop rate and a reason for someone with 5 million + prestige xp to play other than for the messed up pvp or to jump into Deep Space 150x. Yay, I killed a Krayt in 2 seconds with a 2500 dmg blaster. Good thing for that Krayt pilot I was too lazy to take the 4000 DMG Laser out of the turret on my YT-1300 that day. Anybody want to feel the pure PVP power of my Cert 1 RE'd Ion Cannon, send a mail to Kulden on Ahazi?!?!

At least you can use it as a filler when RE'ing.

There has definatly been a nasty nerf on this loot dropping stuff....one was needed, but not this badly!

I have about 25 components that I use between my A-Wing, Longprobe, X-Wing, and B-Wing. Some of those parts are used in multiple ships, some are just for a certain ship. About 10 of these components have been bought from players, and 15 have been looted. That's a pretty good ratio I think. The thing is, NINE of those ten were looted before the last patch...and before the patch I was killing tier 3 and 4's. Since the patch, I've been killing just about all tier 5's, and have gotten one piece that's worth using. That's just wrong....

I say have the *amount* of loot reduced from pre-patch levels, but keep the quality up there. No need to get loot every other kill, but the loot you get should be worthwhilefor the tier level you got it off of.

Glad I'm not the only one who's noticed this. Loot levels in space have dropped to the point where space is pointless for Master's, I only go up there to hit the black sun spawn and help out friends. When loot was fairly regular I was never out of space for more than a few minutes. Spend a few days in space then a few days getting all the stuff sorted and RE'd...for almost a whole week the game was actually fun. Then this "loot craziness" patch (Hey TH, still haven't seen any "phat lewt!") and everything is borked, ground loot and space loot

Thanks a loot devs!

I still loot items shipwrights cant come close to crafting. But i also loot items that a first day person in SWG could see the non usefullness of the item. This game currently caters to people who can form a collective whine and keep it active. All proffession boards have their "We are being screwed nerf so and so class" thread. If groups would try harder to get their class improved rather then bringing down another to their supposed level. Then we all would be happy with what we have. SOE find it easier to nerf then to enhance. Its always easier to take away then it is to give something. Until we get this nerf thing out of their heads and put a view of adding to some class, then we all will be losers except the guy with millions already. Wouldnt it have been funner to maker the shipwright schematics better instead of making the loot less viable? I think it would have been funner that way.

Every now and then someone will post a message that just screams, "this makes so much sense it's unbelievable." Ladies and gentleman, I present you with such a post. ***** for you.

Well you can thank the screaming SW's (not all SW's mind you, just the noobs) for the space loot nerf. *Sigh* The space loot was perfect, now its barely adequate, at best. If they nerf it again its going to totally destroy the fun of hanging in space. We have no content in space so the loot is the only incentive to spend time up there.

I am a Master SW and a master pilot, and since RE loot blows crafted stuff out of the water, I too spend all of my time in space trying to get loot now since crafting is useless. Unfortunately, I spend a very long time getting zilch for loot now, and since killing higher tier ships means absolutely nothing in terms of higher level loot, I get the most out of the tier 3s, and that's only because I can kill about7 a minute.

The devs didn't make it better for the SWs by evening crafting and RE, they just made it harder for anyone to get anything. Hopefully they'll realize this soon.

Actually,I think they should use a system similar to the oneused inEarth & Beyond such that SW's can get the blueprints out of looted components by successfully analyzingthem. Success depends on the reverse engineering skill of of the SWand the level of the componentbeing analyzed. Analyzing higher level componentstypicallyresult inahigher rate of failure. After getting the blueprints,SW's can then go and build those components at higher quality than the raw looted ones.
