Thread: Grouping required is not bad, but...

/mood frustrated

This is an mmorpg and grouping should be expected. On the ground, before everyone was a god(due to buffs and uber armor), grouping to hunt krayt offered EVERYONE in the group something. XP and the possibility of good loot. It was easy to organize and the spawns weren't to hard to find.

Now look at the vette missions required for master. The only ones who really get anything out of it are the pilots who have the mission to reach ace. Sure everyone else gets 130k xp or something like that, but by the time you get organized, find the spawn, spend money on repairs, and complete the mission, you could have easily make 130k xp plus a load of credits in the same time.

Like I said, I don't mind grouping, but it's fairly difficult to find a group that is capableof taking out the vette without offering cash. I think it would be sweet if loot or more xp were offered for taking out the vette. Or maybe make grouping in space more intuitive. Communication in space groups is bad at best.

One of the major problems with this game on the ground and in space... they REQUIRE grouping (at least they will on the ground after the CU) but they offer no incentive for group members. Risk vs reward... they don't have a clue!

It must be server dependant finding people to group with you to do missions,as i helped people master SS Ace and also missions up to Ace this weekendfor nothingbutonlyto help them along. These players also did the same for me tomaster the SS pilot skill over the weekend.

It might be time related and i got lucky with grouping or might just be everyone was so sick to death of the ultra long missions at tier 3 and above that we all lent our help willingly and had others help us in a similar manner so to get us through the final missions.

I'm willing to help any Imperial pilot do Storm Squadron on chimaera that is at tier 2 and above that need help as i know how hard it was doing the missions and if i can help i want to. I do it for free and for the satisfaction of helping them further on and wouldn't accept payment or ask for one.

Has nothing to do with bieng leet. If you use all the advantages and tools you have, most of it is not that difficult.

I hope that grouping won't be required for all things when the CU goes live. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the occasional group, but I do not go looking for them. I prefer soloing and always have.

I am a CH and one of the things that concerns me is that once this CU goes live, CH's will be left out in regards to taming creatures. There are a few creatures that are high priority tames for a lot of CHs. One of them being a Bull Rancor baby. How many groups do you think are going to want to spend days or weeks hunting Bull Rancors just so that a CH can tame a baby? They are very rare, so rare that many CH have reported over 250 to 500 lairs destroyed and no baby. Some have taken over a year and still have no baby to show for it. Will you people who want grouping to be required for these creatures be willing to give us CH a hand for that long? Another example is the Great Plains Stalker. They are more rare then Bull Rancors. They have no lair and spawn one at a time up to 4 times. I have been looking through 20 WPs and in the last 4 weeks haven't come across one adult. Will you take time out of your day to spend 2-3 hours to help a CH find one of these?

Your argument I am sure will be get guild members to help out or other CH. The number of CH on the servers ain't what it used to be. We aren't very many any more, we are few. While I can understand that people want grouping, there has to be a happy medium between solo and grouping. For the above reasons, for me, it needs to allow me to do things with some challenge, but not impossible.

Another argument I think I will see mentioned is that this is a MMORPG. Yes, I know what it stands for, but that doesn't mean that grouping is required. It just means many people playing at the same time. Yes, grouping is a big thing in a MMORPG, but no where does it say that grouping is required. You interact with people all the time in a MMORPG and that is what a MMORPG is all about. Interaction! Interaction doesn't mean only grouping, it means many things. One of those thigs is grouping, but it also means talking to one another, selling to other people, buffing other people, healing them, etc...

I have gotten a little long winded here and I didn't mean to, but I am hoping that those of you who would like to see grouping a required aspect of the game will see the other side of the coin as well. I don't want to change your style of play nor would I ever ask them to do that, but I would hope it would go both ways.

I finally finished my ACE quest last night. I have to admit this is one of the most gratifying accomplishments I've made in SWG. I've mastered over 14 professions but nothing compared to this. Most professions are just a grind. Go get enough XP, however you can, and keep at it. JTL is different because of the missions.

Hereare a fewsuggestions for those frustrated with finding people to help them get ACE.

1. Use your friends list!!!! Keep track of people who are doing your faction missions and are the same level. I solo'd 90% of my missions, but the ones I needed help with I asked other pilots I had met at the mission givers. I'd always ask if they would be willing to help me if I ever needed it, and that I would be willing to help them. If they said yes, I'd add them to my friends list with a group of 'Pilot Help'. That way I could sort on group and find people to help me.

The rest have to do with the vette mission.

2. Carefully pattern the spawn times and path of the vette.

3. Come up with an attack plan by asking someone who knows how to do it.

4. Don't ask people to show up at random times to help you... send out an email with the time you think the vette will spawn, meeting location, and plan of attack. People are more likely to come if you have a well thought out plan for the night, rather than a 'I hope it spawns soon' attitude.

5. The best way to find people to help you with the vette is heading to kessel at near the spawn times. Sometimes you'll find a ragtag group there getting demolished. Ask to join their group next time and invite all of the Pilot Helpers on your friends list.

Anyway... After all of the fuss I think it is worth having to group to finish the mission. I just wish it was easier to find a group. Maybe a 'pilots for hire' chat room would work.

It was awesome after we finally finished it. We were all celebrating and headed back to the mos e. cantina for some drinks and celebration. Everyone was pumped. It was like the end of RotJ. lol

Good luck to all those working on it... it's worth it in the end.
