Thread: Engine Overload

I installed Engine Overload IV in my computer last night and tried it out in my A-wing... Nearly destroyed my ship. LOL

I understand that I overcharged my reactor, but my question is this:

How do I know how much "free space" I need in my reactor energy in order to use a program such as this? I'm currently about 3k under my reactor energy limit.

How taxing is overload IV versus Overload III?

EO 3 is all you'll need, unless you have a MASSIVE reactor.

I believe EO 4 makes your engine take up 4 times as much energy as would otherwise be the case (i.e., you have an engine with 2000 energy consumption, it now takes up 8000 energy to make it go, and sucks that power from EVERYTHING else).

Whoah! Four times?

Does that mean EO3 takes up three times the energy?

run reactor over load with EO and you won't have any probs just make sure you run reactor overload 1st

EO 4 eats 50-75% of your energy of your eactor, that basically includes sucking energy that is supplying your other components.

I'm not positive, but I believe I have the math figured out for Engine Overload 1 through 4. When you run one of those programs, you'll see an effeciency number appear in your engine's stats. For the four levels of overload, the numbers are as follows...

  • Engine Overload 1 = 0.7 Efficiency
  • Engine Overload 2 = 0.5 Efficiency
  • Engine Overload 3 = 0.3 Efficiency
  • Engine Overload 4 = 0.1 Efficiency

Anyways, the way that number works, I think, is that you divide your engine's energy usage by the efficiency number to get how much energy it will need while overloaded. The way this works out is that for Overload 1 your engine will use about 1.43 times as much energy as normal. For Overload 2 your engine will use 2 times as much energy as normal. For Overload 3 your engine will use about 3.33 times as much energy as normal, and for Overload 4 your engine will use 10 times as much energy as normal. As you can see the jump in energy usage from Overload 3 to Overload 4 is huge. At 10 times the energy requirement of normal, you're going to need one heck of an uber reactor to be able to handle it. For example, if you're using the Lvl6 reward engine, you're going to need18900 worth ofEXTRA energy if you want to run Engine Overload 4. (As a comparison, you only need 4900 extra energy if you want to run Engine Overload 3.)

It lasts until you land, repair, or your droid interface is disabled, be that by damage or the use of certain pilot specials.

Also, some pilot specials can cancel all your droid programs without actually disabling your droid interface.

/eshields for the rebels comes to mind.
